hcr or m8

I've rode both some and I cant really tell a difference. I can see a difference in the width but I cant really feel it. I love my HCR, I basically went with it cuz I like the green better then the white and I found the right deal...

Go with the M8....The HCR's are 'Cooler' looking, and have a slightly wider ski-stance (Which I think is silly...why make a Mtn. sled HARDER to side hill?!?). Also, as stated above, you won't be able to tell the diff. between the two, save some cash and stick with the standard M8..
Just my .02

hey

I think there is a huge difference in how the sleds ride. I got the hcr for wider ski stance, front shocks, and harder duro track for snow conditions. You lose a little in soft snow with track, and its a little harder in the trees with wider stance. The titanium springs on shocks and primary are a plus for sure. I also liked the boss seat. You will be happy with either sled. I have a 1000 hard miles with no problems at all. Bdx intake, slp pipe. clutching, tons of vents, and she rips hard. Tim

hey

The hcr is designed for chewed up, bumpy, and less then perfect snow. I ride it in every snow condition, and love it.

I really tried hard to 'feel' the diff. between the two, but I really couldn't, oh well.... Is that you and your HCR pinned up against that tree? If so, you indeed are "Shreddin' the Gnar!!" :p
Edit: Also...how the hell did you get it outta' there?!?

hey

That was the only tree around, ahhhh. I was ripping a vertical lip, and got kicked off, and she coasted right into that tree. Bent the ski pretty good, and a little crack in hood. The difference in the sleds is mostly in deep snow, and in the trees. The wider stance is nice, and you can take a nap and hold a sick sidehill. tim

the harder durometer track in the HCR will dig more in deeper snow than the softer lug on the regular M8. but the HCR will also hook up much better in more set up snow.

i own a 2010 hcr and i can side hill the sh*t outta it like i doubt ur going to feel a HUGE noticeable difference dont let the wide ski stance steer you away from the hcr. to me its not all sled. the rider is the main thing its whats ur willing to do and how much effort ur putting into it. me with my hcr i could climb as high as m8s and i could sidehill better. im not being cocky im just sayin its more rider then sled and i have no complaints with my hcr at all. i like the wide stance set to the narrowest position its good for flatlands and good for mountains. and i really hate fox float shocks the titanium coilsprings shocks on the front are amazing and the harder track hooks amazingly. to me id buy another hcr over an m8 just because the im not a fan of fox floats and i love my pickle!!!

I have a 2010 HCR and I would not do the wide stance again where I ride. It is no problem to side hill across the side of a mountain. But for technical stuff where you have to get the sled up on it's side in real off camber stuff it is not good at all. I do love the way it rides on the trail. I have regular Ms and HCRs with me all the time. There is no comparison for ease of maneuverability in real tight technical stuff...the narrow Ms are much better. And the HCR is way more precise and stable on flat high speed stuff.

In deep snow you probably wouldn't notice much difference. when the snow settles or you are playing in the technical stuff there is a huge difference. 2 inches of width makes a big difference on how they handle. If you get the hcr and don't like the width you will have to change a arms and shocks to go narrower.

I could notice a big difference between a 2010 M8 sno pro and a 2010 M8 HCR riding both back to back both in stock form except the sno pro had powder pros. They both came over easily but the sno pro was noticeably easier to pull on its side. The HCR track trenches more too. They are both really fun sleds, but personally i would just go with the M8 sno pro, its the best choice for most riders.

I currently own an hcr & another M, have owned M8's & a few 1000's.

I wouldn't buy another hcr. The wide ski stance only makes sense if you ride trails a lot (it'd be a very ideal longer crossover sled) and the 90 duro track is notably inferior in MOST snow conditions, even in spring snow where it should shine, it's sketchy. I've owned a number of 80 duro PC's, 1 90 duro, a couple camo extremes, and I would buy a sled with an 80 duro, no question.

Oh, and the new longer tunnel is the LAST thing I want on a sled if you're thinking about an 11.

I LOVE my HCR i go to the mountains like 4to5 times a year it works awesome there and i ride aound home Alberta Flatlander LOL it works awesome here to. It is very easy to side hill and play in the trees i think the wider ski stance doesn't effect me at all. Great sled it is the funnest and best sled i have own by far!!!!!!!!!

I want as durable a sled as I can get, something that can take a rolls & not come home bent up. The longer tunnel does two things, it makes a longer leverage point so the kind of things that were happening with the BDX can happen (easier to crinkle) and it makes it that much harder to get away from the machine if you're bailing on a hit or just trying to throw the sled out of a hole...
As a jumper mostly, and one who owns a 141, the long tunnel is one of the biggest things I wanted to get away from when I went to the shorter sled. I have gone through 2 back 1/2's in the last couple years & have had a couple buddies crinkle them as well, I don't see that happening as much on the current, shorter tunnel they have on the 153's.

A arms are definitely harder to come by on the HCR . Twice this year I ve missed riding time because 43 in were not available. I'm swapping to standard size M8 A arms from my HCR stock width. I like the wider stance on trails for sure, other than that they just look better.

That's odd, I would think the fact that the HCR is the same as the crossfire, the firecat, and the snopro would make it easier to find them, not harder.
