Hawaii Snowmobiles.

I was wondering. are there any snowmobiles anywhere in Hawaii. If there are, then WHY. Cuz you'd think it would have had to have been shipped there. So if there's any pictures of a snowmobile in Hawaii, Let us see them. and tell us why.

Saw a segment on some show that interviewed a guy who has an asphalt
drag sled there.

I believe snow does fall in some area but don't know if it would be rideable.

Spent a couple of years there a while back
but no snow where I was at.:(

even for dragging or whatever, seems like the price to get one there ould be pretty extreme. Especially conidering how often you get to use it. This is kind of a stupid thread but i'm interested to see one there. It'd be cool to get a pic of a sled with the beach in the background

it does snow on the big island and I know they ski there but I don't know about sleds. I do have a pic of my summer sucks hat on the deck of the condo but I will have to look for it

I thought I remeber seeing one In I belive a 2 stroke cold smoke movie once are it at leat looked like hawaii, it was a old rmk skipping in the ocean. and they do get snow on the tops of the highest peak where i belive there is a large weather research facility.

I guess it is possible that there are some there. This could go somewhere other than i guess most people in hawaii aren't here on snowest. I checked the snow conditions there, and i think the seasons over.

i saw a sled in the back of a toyota truck on Maui 3 years ago. didn't get a pic but it does snow on top of the Haleakala volcano i know...about 10K feet.

I was there 3 weeks ago and sure did not see any! You don't even see many Sea doo's or the like. Pretty tricky trying to ride those waves. I sure would like to see a sled do some water skipping there though.... I think it would be quite challenging and good for a few laughs! :p

The peak of Mauna Kea is nearly 14,000 feet.

Maybe we could get Hawaii to sponsor the next BIG DAWG SHOOTOUT.

At least you won't have to worry about ice.

I bet the black cinder rock has great traction.

I was on the big island in dec 2006. On the big island, you can drive to 14000 feet. We only drove to about 9000, where they have a visitor center. I asked the lady about the skiing up there. She said that for the snow to stick, they need at least 3 storms in a row. If that happens, the snow will stay until spring. I asked about how big the storms were. "about 6 feet" she told me. She also said most people ski there as a novelty, not because the snow is good. She said the snow is usually crusty.

They do have a fleet of snow plows, to keep the road open to 14000. I imagine you could snowmobile there, but I cant imagine it being worth it.
