Having the hardest decision: 155 or 163

Heres the 411

Rode a stock pro 155 last season(it was underpowered but fun as hell), sold it because I snochecked a 2013 155 ltd

My issue is this, what is the best sled for me 155 or 163 ? if i but it new I will be having vohk build a Tial High PRessure system - I only want to build it once so thats what I'm doing. Plus my Audi S4 has Tials in it and they are a sic turbo.

But I can't decide if I would want a 155 or 163 with that much boost? I'm 6'4 215 lbs and have heard the 163 is amazing. if I buy a 163 i'd likely buy a 2012 used, then keep the snow check 13 155 stock as a backup sled.

Thoughts?

It all depends on what you want to do with it andand your riding style. 155 is really good all around and more fun for quick maneuvers and is a bit more of a challenge to ride in certain aspects and certain snow conditions, which can add to the fun factor if you're into that. The 163 will float better and allow you to ride a bit slower and less aggressive. It will also stick to and hold the most ridiculous steep nasty sidehills imaginable with unbelievable control.

I have ridden with both 155 and 163 tial high pressure setups built and tuned by VOHK and they excelled in different areas. Erik's with the 155 is like a guided missle with excellent maneuverability at high speeds. Burandt's with the 163 will flat out go places and make lines that he shorter track can not handle.

Those guys are obviously at the very top of the list when it comes to experience and ability, but they are the real world experiences I have seen with the tial setup. Figure out what will suit your riding and ability the best. Or flip a coin! You can't make the wrong decision :)

I snochecked the 155

I've thought about getting a 155 turbo used but since I've already got the snocheck and not a fan of pissing my name in the snow and blowin the dough It seems a 163 would be a good alternative. But, either way I've got 22k, whether 12 goes into a used sled and I make 2 more and get a stock 13 or just build one.

I can't say, only ridden one turbo 10 mi, it was fun. I sold that M8 last week and now I know I won't want to go back to a stock sled however the next sled stock coming out is superior to the 12/11. its funny i love riding but only have 2 seasons under my belt lol. but I'm ready for turbo time!.

So does that give you any more info, intermediate rider look awesome on a pro - those sleds make you feel and look like superman. i love em!!! sounds like 163 is the better fit for a rookie. when i rode the m8 153 rg turbo, it was hard to control, hard to get used to because i was used to use the ski's to turn but that sucker just dug a trench and the turning was in the legs/hips.

163?

I snowchecked a 2013 stock, but want to move into a 163 instead.

Lame, alpine said it was impossible

They are correct. It's too late. And when in doubt, go long for a different reason. There are always a ton of people deciding to go longer and looking for good used parts to make the switch. VERY few go shorter... So, if the long one is a mistake, put an add up to swap parts and you will find a taker in no time!

you can order the 163 track and rails and it will bolt right under the 155 tunnel with no mods..I know a few guys who have done it on both the pro and the dragons...(same tunnels)

I'm going to buy a 2012 turbo 163 and keep the snow check 13 as my non turbo sled. found a really nice turbo 163 and now its just a matter of price. It's not even sledding season, kind of dumb to buy something I won't use anytime soon but hey i love sleds and this is what it's all about.

163 or 155

Went through that my self. I am 140 Lbs but decided 163 was the right one due to the fact, if it gets a turbo it needs the track. Love the sled and can ride it really well. I went from a 155 to the 163 and it seems to handle the same way but it floats a lot better in the deep snow. Never been happier with any sled. Go 163 If you are planning on the turbo.

I live and breathe sledding with the worst (Best?) of them, trust me.....

But geeeze, you guys are on a whole different plane as me. Worrying about which size brand new Pro RMK sled for a back up? Should I turbo it or not? I am seriously jealous because with a wife, kids, house, car payment, etc I'm lucky my wife allows me the Pro RMK I do have with a wrap, a can, and skis. Seriously, I'm jealous. You guys have it good. :face-icon-small-coo

How many time do you see a guy with a 163 wanting shorter? You see it all the time guys wanting longer.

I bought a 163 this year after ridings SSWIMS for a bit last season. I couldnt tell the difference between my 155 and his in handling. They both did everything I wanted it to even in the set up snow.

I have seen several that have wished they would have gone shorter. On well set-up snow the 155's will leave 163's behind all day long. If you primarily tree ride in 2' of fresh daily at normally less than 40 mph get the 163. The 163 has a very noticeable push in the trees unless your WOT at every corner. Both are great sleds, but where I ride we only get a few big snow days a year, the other 95% of the time favors the 155.

163.....I've decided you start these threads asking questions to keep snowest members checking in.....you work for snowest don't ya!:face-icon-small-ton
