Having problems with Sea-Doo, need help!

I've got a 98 GTX LTD with the 951 motor in it and the problem is it will not pull past 6,000RPM, also the spark plug from the front cylinder looks washed (rich), other than this the machine seems to run fine. Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

Have you checked basics? spark? compression?

Could be as simple as a plug or cap,
could be as major as a broken case.

My obvious meter says it's likely in between those 2 scenarios!

We have one in the shop right now with a failed bearing that broke chunks out of the case bottom, still runs, just acts like a fouled plug.
If memory serves me right, this is a 951 also.

had a 99 gsxl that did the same thing. ended up being the bearing on the driveshaft was never greased and was starting to seize up. shortly after the bearing completely went out, took out the seal and let a bunch of water in. ended up loosing a piston and cylinder in that mess. but anyways it would be something to check out.

Update: The motor is freshly rebuilt and has 5 rides on it. Compression is good, 140lbs. per hole and the spark plugs are new

That's interesting, the one I refered to is fresh a factory short block.
