Have you ever had frozen shoulder syndrome?

I had surgery on my shoulder a little over a month ago, 2 torn labrums, torn rotator and a torn bicep. I was no big deal for my 8th surgery and I was getting well fast.

Last Sunday I tweaked it a little and it has gone down hill fast to frozen shoulder syndrome. This is a very long term recovery from what I've heard and read, up to 3 years, NO RIDING.

I'm calling BS and give me 3 months. Any one ever hear of this.

Who knows...

The healing process is WEIRD.
In January I jumped down off a table from hanging a light on the ceiling and DRILLED my knee into the adjacent edge of the table.

It hurt so MF'n bad. I couldn't talk. I went white as a ghost.
My knee cap was over to the outside..

I started to get shocky.

12 weeks afterward, it wouldn't stop hurting. Got an X-ray, but his angles didn't show anything.

Got an MRI at about 16 weeks. Didn't show anything except for a HUGE bruise still on the top of my tibia below my knee cap. BUT my knee cap is NOT shaped the same anymore, still hurts to bend my knee. Can't touch my heel to my butt cheek..

No tendon damage and couldn't see any breaks.
Doc told me just to give it time for the bruise to go away.

Fast forward to last this past Monday....thought things were good.
Wrestled with one of my HS kids for about an hour.
Coudldn't f-n walk on it when I got done. Still can't pull my heel up or lock my knee out.
WTF.

Just a bruise?

WTF? Bruises don't reshape your knee cap.

I had Roter Cuff surgery in March also have 100% Bicep tear. I was told 6 months before I should do any kind of lifting, or reaching and putting pressure on it. I have not been a good boy and probably have pushed it to the limit a few times. Shoveling gravel, hauling bags of planting soil and dirt.

On the other hand I have heard a lot of horror stories about ripping it apart again. Stupid things like reaching up and grabbing the roof to get into a lifted truck, things like that.

So I too would be interested in hearing some stories.

I had major surgery on this same shoulder in 92 and they overtightened it in the front and caused my shloulder to blow out the back.

It was really going well when I got bumped and my shoulder filled with fluid that turned to glue (adhesive capsulitis). It really sucks but atleast it's my left and I'm a righty.

That sucks!

Find a doctor that will scope it and really see what is going on. MRI's are a total scam!!

if you ever head to Missoula I highly recommend you make an appointment with Dr. Larry Stayner at Northern Rockies Orthopedics.

I dont know anything about frozen shoulder and a 3 year recovery deal (seems real long to me). I do know that when i had the torn labrum and rotator cuff surgery 2 years ago the frozen shoulder thing was a concern to the Physical Therapist.

Innitially the thought of rehab with a PT was laughable to me.....it turned out to be the best time and money ever spent.

Have you had a cortisone shot. Was your surgery open or with a scope? What about physical therapy? My wife has been an ortho nurse for 25 years, that's her talking.

My Dad fell & broke his arm, upper humerous, had surgery and now dealing with frozen shoulder. Initial injury Oct 2008. Looking like he will need another surgery to fix his frozen shoulder...probably this fall 2009. Looks to be a year and counting if that happens. So far the surgeon says this is the best option.

My surgery was May 18th, they went in ortho and then had to slice me because it was such a mess inside. Thay had no idea I had a torn rotater and Bicep.

I had about 80% of my rotation back when adhesive capsulitis set in and cut my rotation to les than 5% in all directions and VERY painful. I have been going to PT the whole time and they said I have a frozen shoulder too.

The good news is, I seem to be recovering. I am gaining tons of rotation in the last 24 hrs and the pain is WAY less. Maybe we cought it early enough and all of the ice, heat, stim, isometrics, ultrasound and positive attitude is working!

wish i could help...but our doctors up in these parts suscribe pepto bismo for upset stomachs whens its stomach cancer and motrin for muscle aches when its bone cancer...so we kind of stay clear and tend to go the naturalist route...Bell carpel tunnel pills for carpel tunnel etc...stuff like that....in the extreme we resort to old batterys for the acid and dip cotton ear tip swaps in to then coat our aching teeth and try and kill the nerve...kind of a root canel with-out the dentist..lol..

Actually training a girl at the gym right now that has had that since last fall...It's a toughy....Stretching a lot seems to help,,,3 steps forward 4 backward most days....Like to hear most ideas on how to help! I'm stumped!
