You CAN do it in the sled... but, IMO easier on the bench... just use an impact gun to get the nut loose.
Before you pull the motor, mark which recoil housing bolt you cant get to... and leave that one off.
Install a high strength pull rope when going back in.
This gives you the chance to check the motor mounts which are likely broken on the front, clean the engine compartment, have the injectors cleaned for $40, change out the pistons to the 2006 models if this hasn't been done (the 05's are more prone to failure)... Install FBF's throttle cable, Install L-9 grade bolts on all 4 motor mounts (Fastenall) and grade 8 bolts in the 4 bolts that hold in the front motor mount cross member.
The wiring on the stator often times rubs through and shorts...
On the 2005's wire chaffing is often the cause for a stator failure... Check this very carefully in the entire chassis. This is often what leads to ECU Voltage regulator and stator failure.
Check or simply replace the Voltage regulator as this may also be the source of your failures. Better safe than sorry, IMO...especially since the VR is so difficult to access once assembled.
YOU MUST be very careful to get the retaining clips for the stator wiring that are inside the housing to be just right so that they do not allow the wires to rub... I like to use a bit of extra silicone to secure these for extra measure... also add some more split plastic loom to the wires outside the block to protect against chaffing (rub-thru)... and check all wires.. this is a good time to replace the harness to the TPS sensor and set that while on the bench...
All things that are good Preventative maint for a good trouble free season.
Good time to send your clutch and flywheel into Indy Dan for balance and blue print
DO NOT PULL THE FLYWHEEL WITH ANY THING BUT THE PROPER FLYWHEEL PULLER... A 3 JAW PULLER WILL RUIN THE FLYWHEEL.
