On our last ride, we had to choke the 2003 800 every time to start the sled. After it was running, it ran fine. It would idle fine, ran strong. We changed the plugs. That didn't help. Any ideas ?

REEDS same on my 03 wouldn't start without the choke put new reeds in fires right up.

O.k., stupid question time..... should we buy stock reeds or something fancy ? Those are easy to replace, right? Just pull off the carbs, pull off those booty things and slap them on ?

Depends on your money if you go after market you have to buy the whole setup the first time. Which isn't a bad idea if you go boysen cause the eliminate the delamination issues on the boots but they are $350 bucks. I just did stock reeds for now very simple to replace 75 bucks for new stock reeds.

Hope that helps

I agree probably reeds. How many miles do you have on it? The 03's had ring issues that caused them to be hard to start as well. I found out the hard way on mine and had one break on me.

It actually has a new top end with maybe 170 miles, so I would hope we didn't blow a ring already or something already. Once it runs, it seems to run fine. But then again, it doesn't go into reverse very easy. Have to try multiple times to get it into reverse.
