Have I been screwed by Polaris?

Last year when I snowchecked my 2012 Pro I opted for the 4 year warranty. Today I got a letter in the mail from Polaris that says my warranty will expire on Sept 27, 2012(one year from date of purchase). It sure sounds like they have NOT got me registered for the 4 year warranty. What should I do? Is there a way to check on the status of my warranty?

Start wth calling the dealer you purchased it from. If they checked all of the correct boxes when it was originally registered, they need to contact Polaris to get it straightened out. If not, the dealer needs to correct this issue with you. I have seen only once, that Polaris made the mistake, when correctly registered by the dealer. Be patient if the mistake was made on Polaris' side. It can take a while for them to make it right with all of the corporate red tape.

Could it possibly be that your regular Polaris warranty is expiring, but the Polaristar extended warranty is not?

so before looking into it, you hop online and post asking if you've been "screwed by Polaris"??!!

you haven't been screwed by anybody...call your dealer where you bought it and give them an opportunity to figure things out or explain your warranty to you.

warranty

All Polaris "Factory" warranties are 1 year, then the remaining year on a 2 yr or remaining 3 on a 4 yr are done by an independant warranty company, that, according to my dealer get way more sticky on covering things should they break. Just what I was told by my local dealer

All the letter is stating is your factory 1 year warranty is almost up. the next 3 years are through a totalling different company.

This is exactly what is happening, I go the same letter and called the number with all of my documents stating that I have the 4yr warranty. The guy on the phone had to look it up and said yes I have the 4yr warranty, but the initial 1yr factory warranty is due to expire. Each sled gets send a letter, they don't seem to bother looking up what was chosen as an extended warranty before they send out the letters.

Thanks everyone. I emailed my dealer too, have not heard back from him yet. Calm down modsledr, it was a question, not a statement. I knew I would get the answer here faster than anywhere else.

I snowchecked a 2011 with 4yr warranty. I never recieved a letter saying my warranty is up. UHHHMMM??????

I also snowchecked a 2011 with a 4yr and never recieved a letter. I think in 2011 the 4yr was all through Polaris.

I sent Corey at Clem's a PM about this. He jumped right on it. There was an error and he is fixing it. Thanks a ton Corey, I have no idea how to deal with Polaris on this. So if you have a 4 year warranty and get "The Letter" you better check into it.

I am sure that you do have the extended warranty that you paid for as other's have stated. I got the same letter on my 11 and had the dealer look into it. Yes, your bumper to bumper is done after one year and then the remaining is drivetrain and not actually Polaris from what I remember. However, you still got screwed by Polaris!

Ha! Sorry, I did too and I couldn't resist.

Two of my riding pals snowchecked '12's and opted for the 4 yr. warranty. One rec'd paperwork and two warranty ID cards from Polaris. The other found out that Polaris is only showing that he has a 2 yr. warranty. His dealer is trying to get it straightened out for him. He never rec'd any warranty paperwork/ID cards from Polaris. His pending sale of the sled is now in limbo.

If you punch in your VIN# on the Polaris site, it will only show 1 yr. Your dealer has a different inquiry site for the VIN# check and that's the one you need to go by as far as warranty info is concerned. You would think the consumer would be able to get the correct info, but that isn't the case. For whatever reason, you gotta go through a dealer. Must be top secret BS!
