Have I been ripped off?

Hi,

Not sure this has to do with sledding, but i bought some rails here at snowest.
First it took me 2 weeks after a paid the guy to get a tracking # then when I check it with usps (shipping agency) it tell me this, I qoute:

"The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on January 6, 2009 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later."

Am I scammed or is this usual? He doesn't replay on mail o pm!

I feel for you. Give it a day or so and see what happens. I recently bought a pipe and can off snowest. I sent the guy a check over 2 weeks ago,and haven't heard from him since. He hasn't responded to my pm either. I just want to make sure he recieved it.

WOW! Hang on Mayor... I wouldn't get too antsy yet! I just had some stuff shipped through the mail and looked at the tracker... I picked up my one package on Dec 31st... and AFTER I picked it up, I checked the tracker and it told me that my package (that I had in my hand) was still in International Brokerage... DON'T TRUST THE TRACKING INFO FROM THE MAIL!!! NOT ACCURATE!

Be patient bro... I am sure you will be getting it soon!

Don't trust the tracking 1. the USPS forgot to load it on the truck this happens allot.

I've had packages shipped to me many times where I get that response from the online USPS tracking system in the morning and then the packeage shows up that day. At least you know that he is thinking about shipping it, enough to put it in the system. Give it some time.

What suprises me is the number of times that buying and selling goes well! Way to many people on here have no info in their profile and seem very sketchy on details. Buyers don't remember their names, never have their address and phone # and don't know how to contact them. Crooks are out their and remember, they walk amoung us. If comunication is poor, walk away.

Form now on if you plan on purchasing items sight unseen and paying for them before recieving them you should at least pay via pay pal. This way in case your run into an instance where someone does indeed rip you off or stiff you, you can fill a legal complaint through pay pal and have them middigate a dispute and help settle it in a timely fashion to produce an outcome that will typically staisfy both parties (or at least you). Just some words of advise form someone who has been there and done that.

the product is in the mail. That tracking memo you got is the standard USPS. It doesn't help you predict when it will get there but it gives you assurance that it is coming.

yeha USPS is notorious for odd stuff...had one company using UPS print a label for the package, and sent it to me as tracking number, well, they just made a label online so it created a tracking number, then didnt ship my stuff for 8 weeks!!! then shipped the wrong thing...then same thing again, another 8-12 weeks...

but in your case I would bet more on USPS issue...nothing like the federal agencies "helping" make things alllllll better!!!

i too have had great luck with selling and buying parts through snowest.....you guys are great!!! I use PAYPAL for fairness and simplicity.....just my $.02

I have seen this before, I don't think with USPS you can actually track the shipment unles it is an expidited service. If it is regular ground shipment you may only see 1 more scan saying showing they have actually recieved the package or you may recieve it before this happens. Like everyone is saying be patient.

I have bought 3 sleds and a whole schnaggity of parts here.....heck, even had stuff given to me and they would not take a nickel...........I hope you are the exception and not the rule.

I have bought and sold plenty on here over the last few years and never had trouble that was not resolved. however as of the last year or so i have been having trouble with people and have had to do claims through pay pal. not sure if the bad economy and loss of jobs is responsible but? when your on the crud end of the stick it does make you mad.

Paid through paypal ofc, have done plenty of deals from the US but has never had this issue. Hope it solves it self soon!

I know the rails are on the way. Because the rest of the skid parts are in my brothers garage. So i know the rails are off and he should have shipped them by now.

Nisse: I don't think you've been ripped off...My tracking number at UPS said something similar when I ordered a skid a couple of days ago...now it's in colorado, just one day later, so just hang on....

I've probably got parts for, I'd say atleast $20 USD through this forum, and have yet to be ripped off....But, I take my time and check what kind of people I'm dealing with before I order...

That's why F-Bomb, 2cool, Snow Jw, Powderlites, Hardass etc got my businees, they are GREAT people to deal with..don't trust everyone, but most on this forum are great guys, and they help me alot, even though I'm, like you from overseas.
