McALLEN, Texas -- A U.S. Supreme Court decision paving the way for a 670-mile federal fence along the U.S.-Mexico border drew swift criticism from environmentalists, who promised to make another legal stand in Texas.

The justices' turned down a plea Monday to hear a lawsuit opposing a two-mile section of the fence in Arizona brought by the Sierra Club and Defenders of Wildlife.

The section of fence in question

Now we have to allow illegals because if we try to fence them out the animals won't migrate

I seriously hope this backfires on them the same way their protesting domestic drilling is going to here sooner or later.

Fence or no fence, illegals will make it into the USA. It's all about the economics of the situation. If I lived in Juarez, making $10/day, you bet I'd be sneaking into the states. That fence is a waste of money (the feds seem to be good at that). Now even more money will be wasted in court. In my opinion, the problem lies with the immigration laws, not with the border.

next thing you know the sierra club will get the mexicans on the endangered species list and we'll be screwed!

To answer your question: NO!

PJ Jumping mouse.
Spotted Owl.
Timber destruction in the third world.
Ban freon, create global warming.
High oil prices.
Private Property Rights.
Loss of public lands.
Loss of green power, wind, hydro.
Forest Fires.
i'm getting depressed.

Actually, yes.
The enviromental movement has done great things.
unfortunetly, over the last 25 years the movement has gone crazy.

Look at it this way.
When the movement started it was small (relatively speaking).
It had definet goals.
Clean up the air, water and land. Make companies accountable and stop the rampant pollution.
However, what do you do when you have succeeded?
What do you do, tell 100,000 people that depend on the movement to pay they bills, put their kids thru college that they can get jobs at McDonalds??
The movement has gotten more and more extreme over the last 25 years as they seek out more and more things to fight for (or against depending on your point of view).
I refer to the current enviromental movement as the monster. It is a self feeding monster. The more it feeds, the bigger it gets, the bigger it gets the more it needs to feed.

Until we get some politicians (or america wakes up) nothing will change. It will just get worse. The guy that started the Sierra club is the same guy calling for it's dismantling. He says it is now doing more harm then good. There was a post put up on the old forum of one of his speaches about this very subject.

It's sad really. The movement started out with noble goals. Too bad they flushed it for money and power.

Good post! I thought that was true about the original guy from the Sierra club. I think Outside magazine had an article about him a couple of months ago. You know you are in trouble when your founded wants it removed.

They actually have done some good but this movement got out of hand recently. Imagine if all of our homes were like Love Canal NY. or if the Montreal Protocol never happened. so yes in all actuality there is some good that came from them.
