hauling car in enclosed snowmobile trailer?

Has anybody ever hauled a small car in a 4 place snowmobile trailer, not the low boy style ? will the ramp hold up? small cars weigh about 2500 lbs and most trailers are rated to carry this much weight but not shure on the ramp. this would be a one time thing not everyday.

I know mine will. I hauled a vw bug in mine and in the summer I haul my sandrail. I would maybe put some kind of support under the ramp for a car. If anything else call the builder of the trailer and ask them.

the trailer I have, is rated for the weight I think I would just have to be carefull on the ramp.

Just cause it fits, doesn't make it right! A sled trailer IS NOT made to haul a car. The trailer construction, axles, tires, brakes, etc are not made for that kind of use. How far are you planning on going? Down the Alcan or down the road a mile or so?

I wouldn't risk it. Even if the trailer is rated to carry that much weight total, the floor isn't designed to hold that much weight concentrated in 4 square feet. (1 square foot per tire roughly)

If I wouldn't put in on an open 'snowmobile trailer' I wouldn't put it in an enclosed 'snowmobile trailer'.

I would lay a 2x12 the full length of the trailer and the tires would sit on it. the trailer is rated to carry 3500 pounds. And yes it would be the alcan one way. Ive traveled that road with close to 2500 pounds 4 times in the last couple of years There is only one bad stretch of road that you would have to go slow through.

The trailer is only rated at 3500 pounds? is it a single or a double axle?
Most snow trailers are dual axles at 3500 lbs. each equaling 7000lbs.

If it's a single axle there's no way I personally would ever risk it. One flat or blow out and your screwed. Many times I've seen single axle trailers get a flat or blow then grind the axle shaft down to nothing just trying to come to a stop. Or the other scenerio is the trailer flips, that'll ruin your day.

If it's a dual axle and you take some precautions it could probably be done. But just because it can be done, should it? I have four construction crews that haul 12,000 lb trailers every day. As posted earlier it's simply not built for hauling cars. Your taking a pretty big risk.

Probably not what you want to hear, but whatever you end up doing, Good Luck.

Its dual axle every thing falls between the load limits, tires, brakes, and gvwr. were talking a toyota corolla size car.

i've had a camary and a satern loaded to the nutts in mine. hauled half way accross montana, worked well. just remember an object in motion tends to stay in motion. it is imperative that it be straped down at all four pionts of contact and chalk the tire's. hopefully its all highway?
