I have been on my wife's insurance for 19 years.

This summer 2013 we received a letter kicking me off cause of the Affordable Care Act.

So I went to my employer and it cost me 400 a month and I cant put my family on the policy till it opens in December.

We now have two policies costing an extra $400 a month !

Interesting read

An analysis of premiums both before and after the implementation of Obamacare shows that 18- to 35-year-olds are likely to opt out of high rates in the exchanges in favor of cheaper penalties for not having insurance.

According to a study released by the American Action Forum, post-Obamacare premiums will average $187.08 per month, up from $62 per month in 2013, a 202 percent increase. Overall, states averaged an increase of 260 percent.

Forty-four out of 50 states saw a three-digit percent increase, and in Vermont the cheapest available premium for a 30 year-old male nonsmoker will increase by $332.69, or 600 percent.

A very successful ploy to dismantle the middle class. Nothing less, nothing more. Sad state we are living in unless the "working middle class" stands up against this! Will this happen? I'm thinking not until this whole thing goes to sh!t first. Sorry for the negative outlook.

I own a small company with 9 employees. In 2008 we had insurance and rates were around 2-300 depending on the guy of which I paid half of it, so 100-150 a month pretax expense for the employee.

Every year since, the rates went up and coverage down until finally in 2012, we were dropped entirely. The only option available to us at that time was a special program thorugh the state which was 1400 a month for myself, at the time 31, non smoker, no health issues.

I feel bad for my employees, ever since Obama started working on the ACA our insurance went to crap. We are still uninsured and my guys can't afford the rates through ACA for the Bronze plan which doesn't cover much anyhow.

Obamacare is not for the working people.

We just changed carriers and my insurance costs my company less ,has broader coverage and far far more affordable options dental etc. I now have disability dental life for me and the kids and my paycheck was $2.00 difference. However the deductibles are did go up slightly and there is no max out of pocket as my old plan had. It's a straight 80/20 now. In all it sounds better but I am skeptical to say the least.the new carreier is united health . In the past they did not offer coverage in NM . I suspect this is a result of the new health care laws .

Just got a letter with my last paycheck notifying all employees that my employer "...EXPECTS our plan to be deemed affordable under the provisions of the ACA and you and any family members eligible for our plan will not be eligible for any federal subsidy if you chose to purchase health insurance coverage through the exchange."

Well the gov't might say it's affordable, but meeting the "High Deductible" of a High Deductible Health Plan every year due to my wife and I's previous conditions as well as 4-yearold son who is a special needs child doesn't seem very affordable. But I could quit my job and get on welfare and let Mr. Obama be my savior, right? :puke:

I always get depressed at the holidays, we usually find out at work right after Thanksgiving what changes are in store for the next calendar year for our insurance. It's like "Happy Holidays, now bend over....."

As long as you don't have anything major you should be good to go.

I had shoulder surgery 2 years ago with a 80/20 type plan maxed at 5 grand.

The MRI, surgery, hospital, therapy etc... was over 60 grand but I capped at 5 grand for the entire year. :face-icon-small-ton

Hasn't changed yet, but beginning in 2014 it is. Now we have the HSA option for 2014 and it will be mandatory in 2015. Man, sometimes I hate being a hard working, contributing member of this great country. Oh, and my deductible quadrupled!!

You can't blame obamacare for rates going up; as it's normal for insurance rates to naturally go up. This is per our chief state insurance auditor.

Now just pee on my leg and tell me it's raining.

Both my wife and I are self-employed, and we had (still do untill Jan 1, 2014), what I thought was a reasonable insurance plan through bcbs; not to expensive per month and coverage wasn't to bad.

Just received a letter from bcbs stating that our plan will be discontunied b/c it doesn't meet requirement of the affordable health plan; what those requirements are is tbd. Now we get to shop for another insurance plan (we all know how fun this is) and my predicton is the monthly premium will be more.

Someone needs to pay for all these illegals once they become citizens!

The thing that really sucks is being the employer telling your people rates are going up again. You get blamed for rate increases and decreased benefits, when it costs the company more than the employee. 26.5% increase in the last year and a half and everyone says expect another 25% on next years renewal. How is a guy suppose to keep the doors open when I haven't had a price increase since 2007.
