Has anyone used this type of throttle on a sled?

TerryCable throttle for ATV, both lever and twist. Hope the pic works.

An undershot thumb throttle is the way to go, waay better ergonomics than the traditional paddle style sleds use now. Try it, you'll like it!

I could do without the twist but I have sat on my fourwheeler and thought that the thumb throttle would be great on my sled

I've thought about the twist grip before the hard to do haning off the far left of the sled. maybe a lefty would work but the other thing is... you pull on the bars sledding more than in motox (at least you have more resistance when you pull.. better description) and that might be tough to do without adding or cutting the throttle.

like the idea of the low thumb thing tho... looking forward to seeing ideas on that one.

built a twist throttle for my buddies ZR 900 cat, it wasnt bad and worked fine. He's a die hard MX guy and he loved it! But its what he was used to his whole life!

Im thinkin a thumb throttle like on quads would be nice!

The throttle illustrated in this post IS the style to which I'm describing. Its just an ATV throttle with a little longer-beefier handle and a thumb-warming element. If it wasn't such a pain in the butt to install and wire in to all the different models, Between the Lines Designs would be making and selling just what I described.
Still looking for ideas, though.

My mistake on assuming....I thought it was something totally different. I think it would be great to have the option of twist. You can lock the twist portion and just use the thumb lever. Have you ever seen one with a thumb warmer? I think I might try this out next year, as long as it is reversable so you can go back to OEM if you want. It also looks like Moose is selling a similar one.

Put one on a 250cc kawi trike back in the 8t's and raced it that way. I too have wondered if a twist would work on a sled. Didn't take any time at all to get used to on the trike. The comparison is close with either a trike or a quad because you have to steer them also... Could be tricky in some situations but no more so than learning to ride the newer chassis..
