Has anyone tried these scratchers

I am looking for a new scratchers for my assault switchback with the 2 inch paddle. I had the current version of the dura flex cable scratchers but I feel they do not work well. They are too short and a pain to hook on the skid when not in use. The previous version with the black coating was longer and worked well I thought. I found these on ebay and see they are made out in Idaho and look to be like the first version of the duar flex scratchers.

Scratcher thoughts...

As an owner of an 2010 SBA with the Duraflex product, I agree with you in that they are a PITA to hook an un-hook to the rail. IF the cable were to be marginally longer, they would be easier to bend and hook back on the rail and deploy. I would go for it. Love the fact that you can back up with them. The last thing I think about if I blow a corner is my scratchers....

I run them on my 2014 SBA with 2" paddle so far so good, ran on some rock hard trails this weekend and they kept it cool. As others have said the cable type do not throw as much into the tunnel versus the spring type.
I also have them on my wifes XF1100 with 1.5" cobra, this sled would overheat in a heartbeat on the trails we rode this weekend...scratchers down and sled didn't overheat at all, all weekend.

I emailed the manufacturer of these redneck cable scratchers and was told they are 1 inch longer than the duraflex ones. I will have to see if that will make much of a difference in hooking them on the rail or not.

Why hook them? I run Dura Flex on everything and I never put them up, ever. What do they hurt being down? I've only ever had one hang up on the trailer ramp. And I have yet to wear one out. (Lost a couple though, dang it)

Looks like Red Neck has a patent infringement going there. It was only a matter of time.

Have to give them credit they use a replaceable carbide insert on the tips. So you can buy these inserts online or from a machine tool supplier.

I have SlideKicks (earlier model of DuraFlex) and always leave them down also, I see no reason to ever put them up. I fixed the issue with them coming loose (the side that promotes the bolt to turn loose) by installing Nord-Lock washers.

The Redneck scratchers ARE A BLATANT INFRINGEMENT.
The guy selling them was hired by Between the Lines Designs to build the ends for the Duraflex scratchers but built them wrong so the parts were rejected. They are made from leaded steel and will split wide open.
Seems like he is willing to pawn off his second rate work on to fellow sledders AND infringe on a long established patented design just to make a buck.
Good luck buying his junk, he wont be around long enough to get your money back.

I dont see what is wrong with the stockers, other than you need to remember to put them up. I have a 3" track on my RMK and never have a heating issue.

On another note, Doo has come out with a new scratcher that is just a little coily spring. Looks super simple.
