Has anyone LOST 50 HP and been happy???

you don't have a weenie therefore not qualifying for bar stool, parking lot, or base of hill measuring contests...

LMAO rob... thats some funny stuff there!!

Brandy,
Do yourself a favor and call Rob right now and get his better boards... its the only way to go with the polaris chassis.

Whhhhhhhhhhew in true FBomb style my guts hurt and there is something sticky on my monitor now! hahahaha

Love it Rob. :) And yes, you are on my list of people to call to make my new "Puss n Boots" a better buggy. :)

She's got about 50 miles on her now.... I keep wanting to lift the hood, then I slap my hand and walk away. When does THAT urge go away? lol :beer;

how was your first full ride on it? Got Boost yet?

I still don't have a FULL ride on her. Rode about 4 hours one day in 6" of slush. Then yesterday put about an hour on her. Pretty impressive little engine. ;)

I'm definitely wanting to ride one w/ a turbo, see what I think. I also want to hear the REAL stories behind their upkeep, tuning, etc etc. I don't need to be sold on a bunch of bs, :face-icon-small-fro I already know I WANT HP. But need to be sold on the other "mod" aspects that I'm hoping to leave behind. Ya know?

She'll remain stock for the rest of this year. I just wanna ride and smile. :)

i have an 07 600 that i put a 727 in last year. it is a freakin' blast, and runs (mostly outruns) with any 8's. i also bought an 08 rmk 7 this year. have not ridden it much, mostly for friends. i really think next year i am going to drop the 840 in it. if it is as big a step above the 7 as the 727 is above the 6......it will be all the sled i will ever need!! i don't think there is any way a turbo will ever have the reliability or "pull and go" of the 840. my 727 was.....install, setup......add oil, add gas. exactly as stock in that regard. my 727 is the smallest (cc sled) in the group....by far. never dropped yet. sometimes smaller is funner!!

You know what they say, once you go black you never go back! Well its the same with horsepower. Better order the turbo if your gonna keep it cuz after the new wears off you won't be happy.

I have the 07 D700 and I do love it.
I especially like not messing with the jetting like I did the mod sled.
It too will become a mod though.
I'm just waiting for it to have less warranty.

You will really like it Brandy,
It's far easier to throw around than any sled I've ridden.
Floats in the deep nicely, keeps up with or beets most 800s out there.
I can't complain at all for it only being a 700.

I'm losing a good 50 HP but I know my backup sled will be a pull-n-go sled from the first day of the trip to the last day of the trip. Best part, it runs on PUMP GAS! I hate hauling race fuel, PITA!

I shed 80 or so HP and I am having the time of my life!!!

I only find this statement to be true if your underskilled for the HP to begin with. I've tried to go back to an aspirated sled. I still enjoy the riding, but I can't live without the HP. No matter how skilled you are, without HP your skill may not be enough. I'm not saying skill is not more important, but if you have the skill to handle the HP.....the fun factor goes up.

I say put a turbo on that 700 and have the chassis, HP, and as much dependability as a stock sled.

Congrats B!!

You made the right choice.:face-icon-small-hap

The new chassis' make the long day memorable in a good way.

The chassis is more fun to ride, and there is always room to make the "sleeper" stronger. Keep the stickers on..;)

When ya all coming up to ride??

never looked back (PERIOD)

but then again, maybe it's just cause I dont have the skill to handle a 190+ hp sled.

But with all HP aside - I have had my best season ever. I thought my M7/9 handled excellent (and it was 40lbs lighter) but I have entered a whole new relm of riding on my D7 (pipe/can and air kit). I dont want to do anything else to it under the hood - why when the only thing I'm seeing turbo's out do them on is straight shoot up hillclimbs? When it comes to steep, tight tree riding or deep powder riding - these do the job extremely well and reliably so.

I just wanna ride.

Edit (after going back & reading a few more pages): As a woman who is a 120 lbs and 5'-4" - my experiance has been that the smaller sled is easier for me to handle. It mainly makes a difference at the end of the day after having gone through a full tank of gas in technical terrain. So yeah, I tend to think smaller sled for women too b/c most are smaller than men. But I do think that what is most important is that the sled is set up well and for her - there is far more to the equation than just HP. The type of riding you like to do, what you want to feel from your sled and the type of snow conditions you typically have all play a different role in an ideal sled set up regardless of body size or ability.

So really - who cares if anyone else is happy with 50 less HP - can YOU be happy without it? I know I could care less if you have 50 HP on me but it sounds like the guy on the barstool does!

Sarah... you got the skills to handle anything, anywhere, anyhow! :beer; You are one of those riders that could make a 550 fan look dang good. Shoot, with the way you ride that Dragon of yours... Polaris should be paying you for making them look so good!

I can't wait to try this out in the powder and get my own opinion of it. With the snow we have right now, I'm climbing anything I point it at. This isn't the snow I live for though. Where's my pow? :face-icon-small-con

The pow is where this baby shines honey, just wait...

Haha and no, I think Polaris did it right this time - they make anyone look good on these sleds!

The only time I have ever experienced loosing nearly 50hp is when I go from my home at 600ft of elevation to 9500ft. The hp factor on my M just isn't there anymore, and then again, neither is the air going into my lungs. Regardless, if your not sure about the hp gain or loss, try running a sled at different elevations.

The M certainly don't run 165(?)hp at high elevations, it probaby runs around 110. Just my $02....

ive got 800 miles on my turbo 7 this year so far... :D:D:D
call me if you got questions on boost for next year...

Brandy,

I think in the fun factor department and given your refined skill-set on a sled that IQ RMK chassis is only going to get better for you!

Some sincere questions, no satire...

What kind of power do you think that the 1150 was making at the altitude you ride most?

The 140 hp (sea level) stock 700 makes what at that altitude?

If your nimble IQ had that same 1150 power, or even a bit less, would that make you happier with your current sled?

Boosted: If you kept the boost dialed down, you would probably be making 175 hp, at all altitudes, and still be able to run pump gas... ?

Do you have any saddle time on that boosted Nytro? I'm wondering how that sukker rides.

My questions revolve around the "fun factor" of the sleds rather than the bragging rites in the parking lot of the most expensive piece of hardware .

A bit of unsolicited input: Rob's boards are great and I think a madatory addition.. I think that the TCP bumpers have that same "mandatory" utility in a hard ridden IQ-RMK. You can install them without cutting up the fenders by using the the Skinz float plate in conjunction with the bumper. The IQ-RMK's are HORRIBLE at taking any kind of frontal hit & you loose a lot of $$ in parts like fenders, hoods, pipes, motormounts, nosepans, bumpers etc... but most importantly lost riding time from even small tree/rock/ice hits. The new 2009 RMK bumper design will stil not compare to the protection offered by the TCP but is a step in the right direction from the 2008 and earlier IQ-RMK's.

I enjoy reading your posts, you seem to always have a level headed approach to your comments which definatley stand out in the crowd.

Phatty, thanks. :)

mountainhorse-

Hm. I really don't know the power my 1150 made at altitude. We ride mostly around 5000. But travel all over.

And actually the thing I loved most about that engine wasn't the HP (even though that's how I asked the ??), it was the torque. I'd take 140hp and 140 fpt if I could. lol (is that even remotely possible?) And what I loved even more about it was it made enough power that I could be off on my tuning and still be able to ride it like I wanted to. With smaller engines, that forgiveness is gone.

Anyhow.

So, to try and answer your question.... I think that 175 in the IQ chassis would make for a nice combination. Already, I am liking the 140 it has. It appears to have "long legs". But then again, we only had about 6" of epic pow to ride in on Saturday. heheeeee The downside is being pinned to the bars all the time will lead to me wanting more.......

Right now, I'm ready for the pure fun factor, so I installed the muffpot (because food is #2 priority) and will be putting Rob's BB's on. After that, done for the season (tinkering). I just wanna ride and it is spring. ;) I do like the TCP bumper, might have to give Max a call. Gives it that "offroad 4x4" look. GRRRRRRR

No saddle time (for me) on the Nytro. We picked it up on Wednesday, we have no pow and I don't want to ride it until we have powder. It definitely sounds cool, sounds like a jet plane. We prolly looked like a couple of rookies this weekend, how I felt anyhow. Both learning to ride the "new" ride. Me from and Edge to the IQ and Brent from 2stroke to 4stroke SC. Just different............ :wine: But we know it will be better.

I think you are the only person to call me level headed. But thank you for the compliment. :)
