has anyone had there starter gear strip out?

has anyone ever had there starter gear strip out? what would be the cause. ive talked with a few people they said they never heard of a starter going out on a yamaha 4 stroke. i have an 05 t-vector

check and see if the starter clutch gear is working properly should rotate one way and lock the other way if its locked both ways thats your problem

my buddy stripped his on an 03 trx1,after he rolled it about 10 times down the mountain,dumbass didnt pull the plugs before turning it over,his aftercooler was full of fuel,and it hydrauliced

ya the bendix works right. gear spins one way only .

i did have the choke one when it let go. would that cause a hydro lock?
