HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED A 2019 AXYS 850 ENGINE FAILURE ?

Last month we rented a pair of 2020 Pro 850 155's in Alpine, WY. Not sure how big their fleet is, but they have quite a few 850s that I saw. We rode them pretty darn hard for over 200 miles- alot of high speed road stuff, with plenty of deep back country mountain riding. We did not intentionally beat the sleds by any means, but pushed them more than if they were our own sleds. Upon return, my buddies had around 2,400 miles on it, and mine over 3,000 miles. Being rentals, I am sure they see all types of usage as any rental would. I bumped into the mechanics and asked about reliability, and he mentioned they had extremely good luck with them. Just normal wear and tear, but no catastrophic failures. I did not get into it deeper, but he said the 2020 fleet has been one of their best.

Who knows- surely not I, but I left pretty convinced it was a good platform... but again I have quite limited knowledge.

Bought a 2019 850 3” in June with 115 miles. Found out after I bought it , the dealer rebuilt the engine when it only had 15 miles on it.

For the first several rides this year it would foul the mag side plug.

I finally took it in and had the latest flash done to the sled a couple weeks ago.

After the flash - the sled took 4-6 starts to get it to the point where it would idle on its own without dying or having to touch the throttle - which I hate to do until it gets to 90 degrees.

Yesterday (12/31/2019) - sled seam to run great most of today. (except having to restart it 4-6 times when cold) At one point it completely died. Pulled the plugs. It appeared like the mag side is over oiling/fouled - and the PTO side somewhat normal if not a little lean. After dying - I couldn’t get it to start without adding throttle. We got turned around and headed to the trailer. After about a mile – it started losing power and then overheated. From there we pulled the belt and towed. When I got to the trailer - I threw the belt on to try and load it up the ramp. It would barely make enough power to move – plus started backfiring and popping.

Also - this sled has a combined total of 295 miles. I sure hope Polaris and the dealer do the right thing and take care of me.

Anyone make heads or tails of this? Will be getting it to the dealer as soon as they open back up. Wondering if there are also know issues with the 2019 850. Oil injector? For less than 300 miles there also seams to be excessive oil on the belly pan .

I always say one of the first things to do is to bypass the throttle safety switch when you are having starting and run issues. Have seen sleds that wont start, have on/off throttle bogs, limited rpm and popping/backfiring. The overheating makes me think you have something else going on though.

My 2019 ran pretty poor through breakin. Been excellent since, with the exception of flooding twice during cold starts.

Oil in the belly pan belly from the pipe/y pipe connection is common during the first couple hundred miles.

Thank you. I have the Munster throttle on mine with the TSS bypassed. Hoping that wouldn’t cause any issues.
