Has anyone drilled extra holes behind their M sieres clutch?

Curious if anybody has added or enlarged the holes behind the secondary? You know, by the footwell, below the Reverse or Power Valve solenoids? OR in the plastic where your knees go?

If so, how are they working? Any problems with snow on the clutches or slipping issues? Can you post some pics?

Thanks!

Take that plastic filler piece just above the foot well off, its only covers the reverse solenoid, the early M sleds did not have that piece, I took off both sides on my 09

I was thinking about that... My only concern was the wires for the reverse solenoid- Guess I'll remove both of 'em and just make sure to tuck/zip-tie the wires out of the way.

Thanks!

i dont have any pics but on my m7 i drilled a bunch of small like 3/8 inch holes in the dash up around where the key switch and the pull rope is just behind where the hood sits down on it. they are probably to hi to help for clutch heat but i know they let alot of heat out from under the hood. there is never any snow built up around there now, even on the deep pow days where the snow collects up around the gauges and everything else.

I took that plate out that is right behind the secondary and drilled some holes in it and then cut out the plastic cover and glued some pet screen over the hole. I dont have pictures or I'd post them. I've become a vent freak with my new 09. Belts B expensive.

What is this "pet screen" I keep hearing people talk about? Where can you buy it?

Looks good Chapman! What did you use as the "filter/screen"?

I've purchased the Mo-Flow vents, but the material @ $7.50-10.00/sq ft is pretty expensive...

that looks to be pet screen. all pet screen is is screen for like screen doors or window and such that is made to withstand pet abuse. and you can pic it up from local home improvement stores pretty cheap.

and i agree that does look pretty good, might have to break out the knife and hack up my m7 a bit more.

I took the plastic covers off for a ride and the pockets just filled with snow.

I have drilled holes on the back edge of the sidecovers from the rubber hood latch all the way down the cover on both sides.
Opens it up a lot to get hot air OUT of the engine compartment.
I wasn't sure if the clutch side would get wet but the holes are open and I have not had a problem.
I drilled holes in the right side where the luvers are, but did not drill the clutch side.

Looks good jeffro. This is a great low budget mod. I cut the louvres completely out on my M7 and on my new M8. I have never had snow cause a problem with the clutches.
