I've seen a few. Some not so cool. One I've seen was made from halved plasic barrels. One that looked good was made with a frame and stainless. I won't be able to buy one so maybe I could build my own with your help.
Pics would be great I have been putting off making one since last winter. I might actually get to it this weekend. Pics and ideas are always appreciated.
This is on my list to, thinking of doing a steel frame but not sure on what to use for the sheeting material. I don't want to use plywood but Alum or steel would be expensive and heavy.
i have done two, i have only one now, i will try to get some pictures and post them tomorrow. the one i have now is stainless frame and aluminum skin. the other one i had was made from curved aluminum tube welded together and skinned with painted aluminum sheeting.
Find a highway job using corrugated HDPE storm drain pipe. Used a piece of 24" pipe, sliced in half. Was about 30" tall (OD of the pipe). Bolted to floor and a couple pieces of angle iron back to the side of the trailer. Never rust, worked well.
Hmm I towed a trailer with a "front" much like the "salt shields" and I found my tires threw rocks, bounced off the shield and intot he back of my tow vehicle, cause all sorts of rock chips.. even blew out the rear window once... my new trailer is a standard car hauler and I still have that issue with only 6" of front flat surface area for rocks to bounce off of....
Only fix for that is a good set of mud flaps... front angle on the shields wont matter much as rocks get kicked off the front of my gooseneck horse trailer also before putting on mud flaps.
