Has anybody been to Skate Creek yet this year?

Just wondering if anybody has been there yet. I only have a half day to ride tomorrow and the backside of Skate creek is close to home.

I took my son up there for a half day ride on Christmas Eve. Only three rigs in the turn around/parking area.

We broke trail in some DEEP powder up to Allen mtn, then went down another route to Skate Creek Rd and broke trail up another road in some even deeper powder. Sure was fun.

Be VERY CAREFUL this weekend, avy danger is extreme and there's lots of steep terrain in that area.

Yes,lots of folks there on new years day. No grooming yet,very bumped out.

Sunday's ride

My daughter and I rode Skate Creek today. Freshly groomed for good riding to the top and lots of deep snow made for fun off trail riding. All in all it was a great day!

The parking is horrid and the crazy lady just parks in the road and won't let you pass, also there is a transit living in the woods......

It sounds like you did not have a good day... Were you on the Packwood side or Ashford?

Skate creek

Hello - Newbie here.
I've never been up skate creek rd, and would like to take a 2 dog team up there for a short training run, any major objections? Also do I have to worry about slides or avalanches on the road?

Billy, if you go up Skate creek road and not the riding trail you won't see many snowmobile's and no (few) slides. The road has a gate at both ends but the s/m's go up the side roads rarely down Skate creek road.
