Been working on moving west for what seems way to long and have been waiting on the job assignment to go through. I got an offer for Harve and Miles City in MT this week. Seems like too far from any form of good riding. Anyone know the area or have any advice?

miles city has no riding anywhere close, their Polaris dealer once told me they just don't carry many sled parts anymore

Life on the high-line and far east like Miles City sucks for snowmobilers. Long long distance (hours and hours) of driving for mountain riding. At least if you lived in Havre there is a lot of good fishing on the high line with Fresno and Tiber reservoir. If I had to pick between the two it would be Havre by a mile. You also have Baldy Mountain that is close by but I have no idea what the riding it like around there (if any).

Miles City to Cooke City is about 5 hrs travel.
Havre to Columbia Falls is about 4.5-5 hrs.
Both have descent snow for a majority of the season. Revelstoke is a bit further (double the time, plus you need a passport). Either way, who cares. Just go ride.

I'm originally from Malta (90 miles east of Havre). I would take the hi-line over Miles City too. We always used to ride the Little Belt mountains as they were the closest to us. 4 1/2-5 hrs from Malta so 3-3 1/2 from Havre. Not quite as exciting as the bigger ranges, but still pretty fun if you go with some guys who know the area. Plus those poor guys in Miles City always get hail storms like we do in Billings.

I have friends in miles city that own a cabin at arrowhead lodge in the big horns and I think the drive is about 5 hours. Big horns are hit and miss more so than most mountain ranges for good snow conditions but they are a fun place to ride no matter the conditions.

I agree.
On another note, the Bighorns are beautiful in the summer too!

Havre is the best bet you got the little belts nearby, my family from Saskatchewan started riding there more often cuz it's way closer than the rockies, either way you got 2-3 hrs drive to different mtn ranges which Is a big plus in trying to get more Good snow days
