Harts Pass

Was snowing up hi today and raining in parking lot. Heavy wet snow but defiantly deep. Things were starting to slide. Might want to pass on it for a few days tell it has time to settle and finish sliding.

Yea I went up today too, their was freezing rain at about 4000 feet that formed a 1/8 inch crust on the snow and then it started to snow on top of the crust. I also recommend letting not going up until it all settles out.

we rode down low at yellow jacket pass in the morning, then we came back and road to about the rain/snow line then our gear got wet and we decided to call it a day.We should have just went up harts first in the morning, the snow was much better.

Its is great riding for sure! I think there is 7-10 inches in the forecast for saturday night, Hopefully I can make it up there this weekend as well! What kind of info were you looking for?

Yeah Im planning to go sunday- monday and looking for what snow park and where is a place to stay the night .Also If there is a direction to head once we unload or where to stay out of. Thanks

I'll steer you in the right direction, I've never ridden there, yet. From Bellevue, ya head towards Blewitt, go over to Wenatchee, hit 97 thru Eniat, Chelan, head towards Wintrop. You'll probably want to go to yellowjacket sno park, best to get info. from locals, or someone on here that rides the area, there are some side areas at Harts you'll want to avoid. Depending on conditions and how you drive probably about 3-4 hour drive each way, ha I'd say a little north of Blewitt.

You are going to want the yellow jacket snowpark. I would show up early and follow someone up,there will be a lot of people up there this weekend. They have hotels in winthrop, twisp, and mazama (mazama is the super tiny town when you first turn off hwy 20 on to lost river rd).

Couple things.... First, count on 4.5 hours to Yellowjacket snowpark from Bellevue. Secondly and most important - be smart as I really don't want to read about snowmobiler getting wiped out this weekend. NWAC has issued EXTREME Avalanche danger warning (highest level) now through weekend in all Cascades so probably not good idea going in there right now and would find safer area. If you aren't familiar with place this is not the weekend to figure out - there is a reason they specifically call out Avalanche danger on the road in/out. Search Harts Pass in Google images and you will see why - the road ride in/out is pretty serious exposure and nothing to mess with in extreme avy conditions - even if you don't actually get caught in avy getting out of there if big one comes down across road while you are in there would definitely not be fun. www.nwac.us - be sure to use it! Now I will get off my soapbox...
