Harts Pass

Just FYI...Harts is TERRIBLE:D:D Don't go:D NO REALLY, I mean it, there is NO good snow up there at all. Including the meadows. I swear there isn't 2 ft of duff on a 4-5 ft base. And there are no drifts 7-10 ft deep along all the meadows. It was no fun AT ALL.

In all seriousness...if you are headed that way, DO NOT bring the novice rider along. The ride in is the worst I have ever seen it with 4.5+ miles of slides (in places I haven't seen slide before) that have thawed, frozen, thawed, frozen and are shear walls of pure ice with a 1000' drop if you miss. Trail is gone in a few spots and you actually have to sidehill the rock wall to get across. The good news is that most people aren't willing to fight through that to get up and so NOBODY has been up there (except us :D). The snow was great above 5800' and we had a great time.

I took my wife one time..she didnt much care for that. I have to admit it can be intimidating and dangerous.

Washington Pass

Gonna try hwy 20 next week. Same elevation as harts and should be in the same weather pattern...much bigger slides to cross though. If it is too nasty to get through, will head back to harts.

I heard the hiway is pretty hammered. Could be wrong but my buddies up there said there is no new snow on top of the slide debris, that all the chutes have slid, and most of the good riding is tracked up. Still may go up tomorrow or sunday to have a look around.
