ok, a guy I work with is getting ready to retire.
He has 3 harley's he is looking to sell. 2 of them have some pretty extensive background and he wants them to go to a person who knows the history and he trusts will take care of them, and he still wants me to buy em.

He wants to sell all 3 bikes and buy one big azzed harley touring bike. When he retires he wants to spend his summers just cruising the roads. His greatest dream is to have a massive heart attack at 80 on his bike. Going out doing what he loves. He has been riding for 40 years.

So the question.
one bike is a 1996 Dyna Super Glide. Bone stock except for custom paint and saddle bags.
The other is a 2002 dyna low rider with the engine punched to 95 cubic inches, air kit and a six speed transmission.
Neither bike has ever been layed down and they are in mint condition.

Both bikes are carbed.
He is asking 11k. I think it is a good deal. From what I can find they are worth around 16k.

Any info on these bikes, good, bad, price ok, what ever.
I know next to nothing about harley bikes but have been looking at getting the wife and I something to do in the summer when we can't sled.

thanks

i have nothing to contribute to this thread about those bikes, but i will say that riding a bike on the road is pretty close behind sledding in the things i like to do not that i bit the bullet and got a bike...:beer;

I buy and sell about 1000 Harleys a year...
11k is a good deal for those bikes if the miles are right (under 15k each)
Pretty much wholesale. Don't expect to make any $ on the deal if you keep them for a year or two, but sounds like a good way to get into the sport!

I woudn't do anything without a certificate of origin...and not a copy the original!!

I mean how can you know if they are even American made Harleys????

sorry coudn't help myself :D :beer;

The 02 Dyna at 11K probably not a bad deal at all. I can tell you in todays market I would not even think about trying to sell it for quite sometime. I am trying to sell a 07 Roadking and the market is dead. The way your post reads it almost as if you could pick up both for 11K? Would like to see pics of the older bike and its paint!

Ollie, I would really like to see pics. If you hit the pass button, I would at least like to see some pics do to the fact I may be very interested:D

Here are some phone pics of the 02.

nice looking bike.. looking at the 2002, im sure the older one is also in great shape.. go onto ebay and see what others like them have sold for.. the thing you are up against on these 2 bikes is that both of them are less desireable models. basically, 1 step above a sportster..

i buy and sell alot bikes, not as many as moonman but, i hold my own...

if youa re looking to keep the bikes its a good deal.. if you are looking to make some money, theres probably some to be made but, probably not gonna do real well on them now since winter is right around the corner..

just my opinion....

I have been all over e-bay, online bike sales and such.
I don't really have a problem with the price, just wanted to get some opinions from some people that actually know something about harleys.

These wouldn't be purchased for profit, I am looking at getting the wife and I into some bikes. Gotta get something for summer.

Dyna's ride well. Lower center of gravity and keeps your feet on the ground when stopped or stopping at a light. Good bikes for riding around the Mtns or the plains. Not real long distance cruisers, but you can travel on them. You will enjoy them for sure. Just get used to the weight, take safety cources and ride within your limits and you will have fun.

a safety cource is already in the works. There are a few different places offering the basic rider cource. Will be getting the wife and I signed up for those in the next week or so.

Not to hyjack the thread but I've been lookin for a clean Softtail for a while. Any around for a good price? Not lookin for a Fatboy or a Night train, just a Standard or a custom.

Thanx

Mike

I will ask my neighbor. He bought a 'Glide and they would not give him jack sheep for his on a trade. Decided to just sell it out-right himself. I'll check if it has sold yet
