Hardcore riders: let's talk shocks...

Here's a question that seems to rival "ford vs. Chevy vs. Dodge"....as in no one has the same answer. I love to punish my sled. Drops, jumps, rough terrain... I have an 07 M8. Its got Floats on it currently. But wonder about switching over to Zero Pros with the coil. Would LOVE new aftermarket, but they're out of my budget. Fox Floats vs. Zero Pro coilovers? Why?

no help here BUT.......

Im no help with shocks but I can solve the first problem:

Dodge: Avoid (someone or something) by a sudden quick movement.

Ford: F**ked Over Rebuilt Dodge

Chevrolet: Built like a rock and lasts like a rock:face-icon-small-coo

Sorry to go off topic but I had too!!

Chevrolet: like a rock. They crack under pressure.

Back on track I can't figure out my float. I'm thinking coilover would be better for me too.

Try looking up stuff by Backcountryislife in the M series forum. He had plenty of M sleds and does the type of riding that you're talking about. I'm sure he's got something to say about a good suspension setup for an M

never could get floats to work right for me,always seemed so inconsistent.the one bad thing with shocks is you get what you pay for,if you want great shocks you pay a great price.allot of snowcross guys run the floats but they are the
FLOAT 3 EVOL RC2 & they are a 1600-1700$ shock:face-icon-small-sho.the best coilover are in the 1100-1400$ range exit,raptors & elka.

Looks like a rock
Smart as a rock
Drives like a rock

I hear ya bigfish...but those price tags put them waaaaay out if reach for me. Family commitment comes first (which gobbles up a HUGE percentage of funds) and I spend a lot trying to make our small sledfilm production work. That leaves me in the zero-pro/float group....

you could send them it a reputable shop, they can convert them to EVOLS and valve them for you

I couldnt stand the floats on the M series chassis. The fox zero pros are a great option on that chassis. As would be a triple rate zbroz set up.

Either way I think you will find they hold up far better than the floats to your style of riding. Find a good deal and go with it!

Man..it's been a long day !!!
But now that I've read that right...

Thanks for everyone's input. You dont have to be "hardcore".... In my situation, talking about 20'-30'+ drops, high speed/hard impact jumps. That's were these floats don't seem to hold up. I take a pounding. Was curious if the zero-pro coilovers would be the ticket. Just sent everything off for the second rebuild in 100 miles. The shop that I'm working with is 100% reputable. Just looking like these floats aren't the answer. Found some coilovers for $225.00 shipped. I think i'll have some freshly rebuilt/revalved floats if anyone is interested?
