Hard Starting and clutch question?

2004 vertical escape 800, stock w/ can ,159". Whenever I go to start my sled it needs to have the throttle wide open in order to start, any idea's whats wrong. It even needs when I rode it and the engine is warmed up. Also what's the stock clutch weights and I am going to valemount BC and I think the elevtion is 2500 to 3500'. What Jets and weights do I need for that altitude.

I have no idea what wrong with it when you try to start with wide open throttle. I go altitle throttle when I started it and let it warm up first.
for weights at 3000-5000 ft, 10-64
for jets at 2000-4000 ft, 430 and #3 in clip position

Check and see if fuel is siphoning into the pipe. May have a bad o-ring in one or both of the float bowls. This is one of many possibilities, but its the first thing that comes to mind.
On the jets, I never ran fatter than 390s with the needle in the second with twin pipes at that elevation. I would not do this without guages, just sayin.... 430s with needle in the 3rd will be way on the safe side for sure

If you turn it off and then immediately try and restart it is it hard to start requiring the full throttle? Or is it after it sits for a few minutes that its hard to start?

Once started, does it idle ok?

If it takes a lot of pulls, no matter how much throttle you goosed it with, the fuel pump needs rebuilding. The easy way if it has never been rebuilt before, is to take it apart and flip the clear round plastic valves over and reinstall them. You need a smooth face of the valve that is in contact with the aluminum, in order to get a good seal. Currently, you likely have a roughened face contacting the aluminum.
