Hard/Heavy Steering '11 Pro 155

Not sure if its been getting worse, but I'm wasting a lot more energy steering my Pro vs a XM.

Just saw mh's write up about greasing the bushings through out the steering system.
I plan to start there.

Are there any common wear items that I can look into replacing with a better part? Aftermarket?

I'll also be looking at/re-adjusting my rear suspension spring pressure.
 
Ripped steering boots?
Icing up?

Lower steering post lower bushing likes to be lubed.

Slop in the steering system will make it seem stiff with the lag and then turn.


Center shock spring adjusts ski pressure.
 
Xm's just steer 2-3 times easier than a pro. My pro makes my shoulders grumpy at the end of the day. That is the biggest thing I would wish for on the pro.
 
Turn up the pre load on the front track shock about one quarter to on half of an inch. You can turn it even more and it will trench and have little ski pressure like an xm.
 
What skis are you running. Have you checked toe and camber? The PRO likes a little more negative camber than recommended by the service manual. Your shoulders will thank you for it.
 
I did have a tie rod rubber boot ripped, have a new one ready to go on.

I am running SLP Powder Pro skis w/ a carbide, which I should likely change out to a hard-weld instead..

I've made attempts at adjusting toe in the past, whats involved with camber adjustment?

A straight cold rolled rod that fits the spindle and a tape measure. I made a pre measured stop that fits the spindle. You need to adjust the opposite side to that stop or measure, adjust, remeasure, and repeat. You will need to re-check each side twice. Then set your toe. Go to the service manual to get the proper measurement for the model.
I use lazy susan turntables under the skis when setting toe, makes the process quicker and easier.
