Hannity is doing a full show on the water being turned off in the Fresno valley. THe water was shut off to all the farmers (affecting 500,000 acres of farm land) to save a 3" fish.

40% unemployment in this area.
This area is considered a main growing area for all kinds of veggies.
Don't beleive me? 12% of ALL U.S. agricultural products are grown in this valley.
But don't worry, according to the enviromentalist, we can get all the veggies we want from china.

The funny (sad) part is, these people voted BIGTIME for bo and the liberals.
To say they feel betrayed, is an understatement.
The locals are calling it domestic terrorism to shut the water off.

I bet Wal-Mart is already devising new ways to corner the market on Chinese produce:mad: Thew enviro-whacos are going to destroy whats left of industry in this country with this same type of chit.

Hummm, a little melamine on your Broccoli Sir? China can't feed itself. Who the heck are they trying to fool.

Don't you love it when they claim environmental damage, on a minnow? And, the solution is to dry up 3 major rivers in China, killing everything in them. Environmentalist, are the real danger to the environment.

Lots of history in that San Joaquin Valley. RG Le Tourneau got his start there building the machines that built those canals, then the Hoover dam, and then all the machinery credited to enabling us to move across Germany building one airfield after another in WWII. RG recieved a Congressional Medal of Honer after the war. Lots of Le Tourneau equipt. still around today.

There's a good book called "Mover of Men and Mountains" that tells the stories.

Tells a pretty good story as well as how much we as a nation depend on this area. Think of the hypocritical environmentalists that eat their food from here and don't even know it.

You are assuming they care.
They actually interviewed one of the people pushing this thing.
His WHOLE stance was it was ok because a couple hundred fisherman rely on that minnow to feed the fish they catch. He could care less about the food supply.

Forget about the couple million people that rely on the farming for jobs.

Also, why can't they farm raise those stupid minnows??
There minnows for crikeys sake. How hard can it be.

Your right, I was assuming they care. That's their whole story except when things get a little crossed up like this one. Then the care seems to lean away from their own thoughts about civility,( fish more impt. than people).

So why are the farmers kids more important then the fishermans kids? And how is the farmer gonna have a market for his food if the entire fishing industry collapses because the food fish(this minnow) dies out and the game fish have nothing to eat?

Did this show all ready air? If not when is it, I could tolerate Hannity for an hour on this topic.

I think it aired Friday or sometime this weekend. I saw something on this about a month ago with Hannity interviewing people that were protesting.

Just another thing that will help America get to that breaking point to just flip the fawk out.

I'm pretty sure that most hispanics are probley thinking:

The hell with the usa , Im going back to Mexico

First off, yea, the show aired last night. I don't know if they will re-run it again or not.

The farmers kids are more important for a couple reasons.
One - They are STARVING. They have no money, no food, over 13,000 FAMILIES are standing in line for 8 - 10 hours just for hand outs. This is the same families that used to provide the food.

two - They can farm raise the minnows to feed the fish and release them down stream of the pumps the farmers use to get water to their fields. Also, who says they have to have THAT minnow. Do you really think the fish care what kind of minnow they eat?

three - we're not talking about a fishing industry. We are talking about a couple hundred independant fisherman. They have an option that the farmers don't have. They can always move. There is nothing that says they have to fish THAT spot and that spot only. They just don't want to have to compete with other fisherman or deal with fishing restrictions. If the fisherman went under, it wouldn't even be a blip on the food chain radar. We lose the valley, 12% of the total food supply will be critically noticed.

VERY,VERY good point.

Bigger problem is they think that we can feed the nation through backyard gardens and locally grown food (I believe they say foods that are "true to the ecology of the region")--I don't know about you guys, but I love to have nice salad with my steak following a great day in the POW--wait, you can't grow lettuce in 10 deg F weather, WTF??? Delusional doesn't even come close to describing their mindset.

HMMM! don't the chinese irrigarte thier crops with sewage? Gives new meaning to the term "Chit sandwhich" enjoy leaflickers

Ollie, do you have any links handy for me to read up on this?

As for the fisherman moving...well why can't the farmers move to a wetter climate? Or even better(i'm kinda proud of this one) why couldn't we grow those crops in old warehouses and factories in places like Detroit?

If drug dealers can have growops of insane high yeild in a basement, why couldn't we grow lettuce or corn year round in a "perfect" farm climate and field that is indoors. No worries about no rain, hail, bugs, etc. Seems like a winning situation to me.

Just a thought on that, when a lb of hydro is between 1500 to 2k$ they can afford to spend the major $ to grow it that way. If we grew crops the same way a salad is going to be 20$. Cost of producing will be much greater than what consumers are willing to pay.
The rediculous part is that valley has a gdp of 4.5 billion $. Take the taxes on that out of the CA economy and it sheds some light on why the state is in the red and is scrambling for cash. End of the day the enviro nazi's put more value on a lil 3 in fish than they do on thousands of peoples lives. That IMO is ratarded.;)
