Handlebar riser how to?

OK, I figured it would be a ten minute job then ran out of light in the trailer. I got the stock riser off, then much to my surprise noticed that all the wiring from both sides runs through the middle of the stock riser. How do I get the wiring out of the stock riser? 1. Good wire cutters. 2. Pull the throttle block and brake block. 3. Disconnect the harnesses from under the hood after unraveling all the conduit? Help!

Follow the wires down the steering post and through the alum. loop they go through, that can rub them, and you'll find connectors to unplug at the top of the airbox. If the throttle cable runs through it too, (can't remember) take it out of the throttle block, there's a small circlip to remove where it goes through the throttle, take care or it'll shoot across the shop. What size Ninja is that in your avatar?

Or you could do what I did and use a large pair of bolt cutters to chop the stock riser in half. Then, instead of routing the wires through the next riser just tie them to the front of it. Honestly, who's bright idea was it to run the controls though the riser anyway? Sounds like something Obama would do.

Thanks for the how-to. My Ninja is the 2004 ZX-10r. I've been wanting the new one, but the one I have is in perfect shape and will not come apart. Just about 30000mi on it now, of course I take good care of it but I've never seen a sport bike not break with this many miles on it.

I did the same thing but with an air saw :) 15 min job.

Cut my stock riser also. Cables are now ran in front of the new riser...no more rubbing and twisting. Why they run them inside of the riser still puzzles me.

i just unhooked the wires, took off the riser and put them back threw the new riser.......wasnt that hard
