handle bars turn too far to left broken steering post "stops"??

When turning the bars to the left, after the steering arms hit the stops on the spindles, my steering post keeps turning. Once it went almost 1/4 turn past where the skis stopped and pushed/flexed the steering support hoop back towards the gas tank in an ugly way. After checking bulkhead and steering post everything looks intact but I see part # 7 is called a "steering post stop". It looks like the coller/bushing on the bottom of the steering post has notches that are supposed to hit the stops on part #7 to keep the post from turning too far.

So does your post hit the stops and anybody have pictures? Something is tweaked on mine and i can't figure out what.....

no 7 should have nothing (or, very little) to do with it, the stops on the spindles will stop you unless you have something wrong. Have you looked at the nut (#10) on the bottom of your bulkhead/tunnel? If it came off your steering could still feel kinda normal but would over-spin when it hit the stop.

I'm sure there are other places that could cause this, but I have a 3/16 plate on the top of my bulkhead (under #7) to avoid the cracking problem & mine comes loose from time to time. This also happens on my racer pretty often & causes the same problem.

Check #14 the long tube that i think you could call a tie rod. Bent mine and if my ski's were strait my handle bars were off to the left. It also had a hard time turnin to the left.
