I like what I'm seeing here.
That's grassroots and the mother of invention. You run what you brung.
The spring is a GREAT idea. It gives the guards some flexibility to bend, but not break.
My Rox risers could benefit from this, especially those riders that put covers on their sleds.
LOVE the oil jug R&D. That's how you invent.
Make sure the guard goes out wide enough to keep the bar hooks (and human parts) shielded.
Find an efficient way to attach the guards to the coil AND the coil to the bars so that it's always secure.
You don't want to continuously have to tighten a nut or a set screw every couple rides. (Ahem..cough cough..ROX Risers..cough cough)
Keep the bar mount as small as possible so it can fit on bars in areas that have very little space, such as the around the brake cylinder or throttle cable/flapper area.
Also...design some adjustability or leeway for people who need to mount theirs right on the bend in the bar, yet the handguard still mounts nice and level.
Keep going on this...someone with the right building equipment and financial backing will pick it up and be able to sell your idea. Make sure you negotiate the royalties.
