Hand Warmer Installation

Is there any trick to installing new hand warmers? I bought some SLP aftermarket warmers and although they wrap just fine around the handlebars, once I try to put new Polaris grips on them, it becomes extremely difficult. The adhesive doesn't stick to the bars for long due to the friction of sliding on the hand grips. The handlebars were thoroughly cleaned prior to trying to trying to install the hand warmers.

Put the grips in boiling water so they will expand.

Spray the inside of the grips with hairspray, works as a lubricant for installation then as a glue after it drys.

I used some spray lubricant to try to get them on. It certainly helped but they still binded up the handwarmers halfway through. I'm intrigued by using the boil method to expand the rubber. Thanks to both of you for the good advice.
