Hand guards?

i have a 07 dragon with 8" bar risers on it. i was thinking about putting hand guards on it for protection against tree branches but have heard a lot of bad things about them. i was told that they break all the time, anytime you roll it over or hit a branch. i was also told thee only good for keeping your hands warmer but i haven't had any issues with my hands getting cold. any suggestions or advice?

Check out the Skinz product, I have them on my sled and think they work great. They don't offer as much protection as the hard plastic ones, but they don't break and you can take them off in seconds if you don't need them on.

I just installed some Rox Flex-Tec guards to replace the Polaris plastic ones I've ran for years (got tired of the mounting plastic pieces bending and breaking). They have a billet aluminum mount, a plastic guard, and a nice cover that provides tons of protection from the wind (cover made by Skinz).

Do you have some pics of the Rox? Their web picture doesn't really show it very well. Just a pic from the front. I want to see what they look like from the rear, how much protection do they offer, freedom of movement etc. Thanks

I also have a 07 RMK with 8 inch risers. I have tried many ways of mounting my powermadd/rox hand guards with many different types of mounts and I have not found anything that will not effect my throttle.

You're correct, the pictures on the website don't clearly show if there is much room for your hands to freely move. There is plenty of room, just as much as the Polaris guards these replaced, but I now have much better protection from the elements (especially from the bottom side) and the same protection with the hard (flexible) plastic guard underneath shown on pic #4. There is also plenty of room to mount them on the throttle side, it was a tighter fit on the brake side due to the weld on the bars.

After having powermadd's on my last sled, I wanted to find something with more hand clearance as well.

I ended up picking up a set of yamaha nytro xtx handguards/mounts. They are bigger than most aftermarket guards, have some flex to them and plenty of clearance between the bar and guard.

Also, if you do snap/crack/break them, they are only $6/each to replace for the plastics.

I don't have them on right now as i was getting he mounts colored black, but should be able to take some pictures within the next few days.
