Hand Guards for the Pro

Well 2 yrs ago I finally bought a pair for my 07 dragon and never knew how much I would love them. So now I need a pair for the pro...Anyone know who is making any? And what brand are you goin with?

i use the acerbis ones on my 09 assault, i'll use them on my pro since the bars are the same. i bought polaris mounts and drilled the acerbis until they fit. i've never had a handguard that a person couldn't make work one way or another.

I'm going with powermadd. Had lots of their stuff and it's always worked great.

Boy I'll tell you guys what! WHAT? I just spent 2 hours at WPS testing every conceivable handguard mounting system for the protapers. Nothing fits the protapers and there isn't any room with the polaris controls. We finally settled in on some black diamond mounts that are basically mirror mtgs and they attach below everything else on the beam. HEAVY and I am concerned that they will hold up to sled roll-overs. I'm gonna custom build some for the real riding season to go with the powermadd plastic. If you don't roll your sled over you'll be fine with those. They were the only ones that put the plastic anywhere close to the right location. Lot's to do! I think I will try to incorporate it into the cross bar mtg locationn bolts some how. After the show circuit obviously.

will or will not?

When you build some, you are goin to make them avaiable to us, right? :D

What about the ones that Polaris has in their accessory catalog? I would think that they would build them to fit (or Not)????

polaris has handguards with mounts that are designed for the pro taper bars. the polaris mounts will also work with the power madd hand guards.

I bought aftermarket hand guards when I bought my 09 dragon and they did not fit w/o making me work to make them fit. Buy the polaris hand guards that way you can have them installed in ten minutes instead of 2 hrs

I'm surprised so many people use hand guards on the mountain. I had a set on a Rev I bought and HATED them. They got in my way. Sure they were nice on the trail but we didn't spend enough time on the trail and they hampered my riding when grabbing the bars, etc.

Sporttech will also fit if you put a bend in the middle of the mounts. If you take your time making the bend/twist, it looks factory. IMO, the new "Duece" handguards go with the pro really well.

When I have removed mine, I noticed that my hands get hit hard with tree branches and ice bullets when passing others. So I guess they do serve a function other than looking cool.

I wasn't too keen on the handguards I had on my Assault until I clipped a tree and snapped one off rather than smashed my hand. I still don't like the feel of them but it's making me think twice about getting a set for the new sled... I had Polaris ones and liked the looks and functioned well.

I had a set on my 07 and they never ever got in the way...it was also nice to block the wind when it 30below or when I am riding in the alders...I just need a set that can hold up to rolling over, cause I always end up rolling my sled lol

Well I found myself grabbing them, and I really just don't run into trees. If you are needing them to protect your hands from trees, you should learn some steering control!

Honestly, I ride the trees but if they are protecting you from the branches then you can probably avoid them altogether.
