Hand grips - glue?

Had some aftermarket handgrips on my sled, that are wearing out, so I bought a new set.

My old set I put them on with hairspray. That did not work so well when moisture got underneath. In fact I had a little mishap where the hand grip suddenly released whil I was side hilling last year.

So I am looking for a sure-fire way to keep these grips glued to the bars.

Anybody have any suggestions? The older Doos have the handlebar heaters on the outside of the bars with the wiring coming from the inside of the bars.

School me on what to use.........

Hold your hand over the other end of the bars and use air pressure to expand the grip and slide it over the bar. Should stay on then. :beer;

whatever you use jeff do NOT use the renthal grip glue. That stuff sucks! I was messing around on the lake last year and when the heater got warm the glue softened up. BLOOP grip came off and I went *** over tea kettles.

I used JB weld on mine 3 years ago and now I need new grips, but I'll end up buying heaters too because of the knife, sander and other chemicals needed to remove the JB weld. Oh well, at least they didn't come off.

Renthal grip glue is designed to work with renthal grips only! It creates a chemical reaction that melts their grip compound to the bar.

Never done it on a sled, but on my dirtbike, I was having the same problem. I ended up putting on some primor, and then some spray paint. Haven't had any issues since.

That is what I used on mine a couple of years ago. Works great.

Most of the time I clean the bars with carb cleaner then spray carb cleaner inside the grip. Using a blow gun on an air hose (4" long narrow tip on the blow gun) I will expand the grip with air as they are slid on, streatching them a little as slid inward. The carb cleaner on the rubber will dry in a short while and stick the rubber to the bar. If I have one that wants to slip off or twist on the bar I repeat this proceedure and use safety wire like we do on dirt bike grips. Have pretty good luck with the carb cleaner assembly with grip heaters in or on the bars though

clean the bars and use black spay paint (black grips) on the grip and the bar, slide on while wet and let sit over night. I haven't had one come off yet.

Just recently I put these RSI ODI grips on, used my motocross wire ties for extra security. Inside the bars and on the bends. You can tell from this pic where I placed mine. Never had a grip slip once, not sure if it's the glue, or the wire, but these are things I'd rather not worry about. No matter what glue you use, if you are concerned, go to a moto shop and pick up a wire tie kit as a backup plan.

wire?

I have also thought of putting wire on my grips was just concerned about damaging the grip warmer also how do you keep the cut/twisted end from wanting to snag your gloves?.
