first and foremost I did not take pics so bear with me.
I loaned a buddy a mic set to measure up a new piston/jug that he had replated. his jugs are ported pretty heavy on the transfers and he tripped a ring. he sent it in to get fixed. what they sent back was unacceptable in my opinion. the jug was welded up and it cracked. so they rewelded it....and it cracked. and apparently they gave it a couple more shots.....the last one looks like they were finally preheated enough that it did not crack.
in the end there is a deffinate fracture line that looks like it could drop a piece the size of a quarter into the crank at any time. as an expierienced welder I can't even imagine letting work like that leave my shop....let alone charging a guy for it.
is it acceptable to recieve a hacked repair job or what?
in the shops defence they did get both holes replated within a quarter thou of each other. the bore looks great, the stuff behind it scares the crap out of me.
