My nephew's 2009 D8 lost the top plastic cover/piece off of his stock dash vent, the internal screen covered mesh was still in place. He rides very aggressively with constant snow over the windshield.
Would this, over a period of a month's riding, be enough to burn down the top end?
He rode it hard, as always, for a month.... then the sled sat for 3+ weeks due to lack of snow. the first ride out it started acting like his TPS or Throttle safety switch was going out....high idle - 2300 rpm, then very low idle - 900 rpm with the motor dying when trying reverse. Check engine light was coming on sporadically as well. The sled seemed a bit boggy, but not bad. When you got on it, it definitely had it's power available.
The reason I ask, is that the dealer says it scored the pistons and it's actually rusted a bit inside the motor. From a leaking vent ?!? Does this diagnosis sound reasonable? I have a trust issue with this dealer from a previous experience and wanted to ask on here what everyone's thought's on the subject was.
Thx
