"I just read at a swedish snowmobile site, that MCX is going to produce a Turbo kit wich Yamaha dealers in North america are going to offer as an accessory.
It will be a cheaper kit without a head chim and will produce 180 hp.

Here is the link, incase some of you can read Swedish, or just use some translator program.
http://www.snowrider.se/default.asp?NewsID=2640"

"Text translated in Google Translate:

MCX introduces two new Yamaha kits for 2010.
The coming season, MCX offers more options for those who want to boost their Yamahas.

Mild pressure kit for Nytro 2010

For Nytro, MCX has now developed a slightly cheaper kit wich is
easier to mount.
With 0.4 bar boost pressure at sea level to deliver the 180 hp, which
is good here at sea level, but very good at 3000 meters above
sea.
It is therefore the question 1.4 bar of absolute pressure and the kit will
be sold by Yamaha dealers in North America as an accessory.
On the other side of the Atlantic run, as you know very high altitude
with powder machines and now, you can buy a new Yamaha
Nytro with 180 horses which is a huge amount compared with
the aspirated engines any time. Next year's Nytro 162 "are a bit
under powered at higher altitude but now has Swedish MCX
found a cure for it!
The kit is a simple variation of their MCX 240/270hk-kit and can
subsequently updated to fullpower for those who wish.
A simpler fuel and plenary and a waste gate clock
that opens at 0.4 bar is what differentiates.
The great thing is that you can run with standard compression,
which reduces assemblytime from 12 hours to only 6!
These kits will be ready for delivery in early autumn.
This rate is so far the most thought of the North American
market. This home is full-power rate to be preferred.

The second innovation is designed to FAITHFUL Apex. Here
, a new kit with mid mounted turbo. So "Nytroso
style ".
With 19-charger in the saddle achieve even better response,
lower noise level (as an effective silencer fit) and
lower weight.
Moreover, mskinen nicer then "space rockets" are eliminated.
The kit is tested for two years on Alf Sund's own snowmobile and
it has worked perfectly.
-Here is the world's best turbo kit that sits on the world best
snowmobile, the combination of 290-310hk and a Challenger
Extreme track is impressive. I think I have the world's best
snowmobile! In all cases, the world's most snowmobile! Concludes nature. Biased
or impartial yes that is the issue of allowing someone to speak on
their very own snowmobile."

That would be good. However, just put an MCX on my '09. Would be nice to get one from the factory though. I know, I know wishful thinking. MCX does make a good product though. Extremely happy with mine. My Nytro rocks now!

What do you mean with GYT?
It's still an MCX kit, not an GYT kit!
And it's real, for high altitude use, not for me as a flatlander!

GYT was the line of performance products that Yamaha used to sell through the NA dealerships. They did this with the Power Inc triple pipes - they sold PI triple pipes branded as GYT.

I never said it wasn't MCX - I was just curious if they would sell it under the GYT brand like they used to.

very doubtful yamaha is going to moniker this kit as gyt. too many variables, too many people going to be breaking stuff, warrantee claims will increase ect...

the article says available as an accessory from yamaha dealers. well isnt that what all the kits are to date? accessory add on kit. and a yamaha dealer can install it. so the above is just a pipe dream in my opinion. ski

I thought GYT stood for Genuine Yamaha Technology, and it does, hence my question, what does MCX have anything to do with GYT?

This is great news that they are seeing the light! Too bad they are using a rear mount MCX:(

What else would MCX use if not an MCX kit
And to me it's not an regular rearmount as it's placed pretty much in the middle of the sled, absolutely perfect positioned with no added heat under the hood as many other kits

I wish Yamaha(GYT) would build there own kit!! I haven't ridden a MCX nytro but i rode an apex last year with a MCX and it was horrible. Tons of power!!!! but worthless in the trees:( The MCX might work for some people but it is the last kit i would go with. I don't understand why Yamaha doesn't have a supercharged version. They can make it work in the watercraft why isn't it on a sled?

LOL Most of my riding i do among trees!
I don't know what you mean, i have as good as stock response in mine, but i have ridden terrible sleds also, not only turbos tho, i even got feedback from several that my sled had TO GOOD throttle response???
In my book there is no such thing!
Don't miss their new Apex kit, finally theres room for an regular mc muffler, so the sound level can be chosen from mild to wild, your choise!

Huh? Guess i would have to ride another one to see. The only time it was fun was in a straight line and if you slowed down it had very noticable lag. I rode a Impulse nytro this year and that was a complete different story. Felt just like my stock nytro except twice as fast:D I am glad you really like your MCX. Money well spent for you just not what i would buy.

As you said, better try another before rule it off.
Impulse makes a very responsive kit, from what i heard, but an alu gastank on an sled? And underhood heat from the Turbo!
Powderlites also have a very good kit, but i don't know if i can trust Dave nowadays, he talks alot about Doo

We are talking past each other - I understand what you are saying, but you are missing my point that in the past Yamaha has re-branded aftermarket parts and sold them as GYT.

They could rebrand it as 'POS' for all I care, as long as it works, and is priced right they'll sell a bunch.

We learn something everyday, i know i do, i didn't know that Yamaha rebranded aftermarket products in the past, because now GYT stands for Genuine Yamaha .... hence the missunderstanding!

Mines terrible, stoped to skis straight in the in half a foot.timing control is key on the apex.

i could see yammi using mcx because they already do other thing for them like build there race motors for there snowcross sleds:D.there is a reason mcx is always the first to release there kit because they have the first protos.:beer;
