Gun safe

Looking for anyone with information on gun safes.
Plan on buying one in the very near future and would like first hand info from them that have them. What brand, pros and cons, etc. I've been told to buy at least one size larger then what I think I need and make sure there is good fire rating.
Any help/info would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

bought a Ft. Knox years ago, always been good....you will put stuff in your safe you weren't planning on, bigger is better....also, think about where you will put it, make it difficult to get out of your house/garage....i have a three level house, and put the safe next to a main support beam between floors and drilled a couple of 1/2" holes through back of safe and thru floor beams for a couple of 15" long bolts that secure it to main beam in house....a real pro could figure out how to steal it i'm sure, but someone that has that much time will probably go for serious jobs..:)

I have a Superior Safe that I bought this last spring. It's awesome. I bought that one for a few reasons. One, it had an exterior finish I really liked. Two tone sand color. If you are going to spend the money, get the finish you want. The inside is great. When I looked a year ago, the Liberty had a better inside, but now I really like my Superior Safe. They have a better build IMO. An extra plate of steel that the Liberty doesn't have. I bought at ColoradoSafeOutlet.com. Of all the safes they have (Liberty included) all the guys there pick the Superior. Check it out, I love it.

You'll find that there are many safes out there and the quality and costs vary hugely. Buy the biggest you can afford as you'll find that many other things will end up in there on top of your guns. I bought a Cannon safe years ago and have no issues with it. Plenty large, plenty weight, plenty of fire protection, and built well. It's not a Fort Knox, but WAY more affordable here in Alaska.

Thanks for the replies so far.
Have only two choices where I live that do deliveries as I don't have the tools/carts needed to handle a safe for moving it out of vehicle/trailer and into the house. Those two are Fort Knox and American Security. Prices on those two are very comparable when looking at same features for their different safe models/levels.

But moving a safe is the most fun part!!!

I will echo what others have said. Buy as big as you can as it's amazing how they just keep filling up. You know.....With paperwork and stuff. :face-icon-small-win
