I have been in touch with Hangfire out of Golden BC and am trying to put together a group AST1 coarse for Dec. 12th -13th weekend.
The regular price is $309.00 but if I can get a group of eight or more people we can get this two day coarse for only $260.00.
This coarse is for sledders taught by sledders. You can check out their web site athttp://www.hangfiretraining.com/ If any one is seriously interested please PM me as we need to book soon as the Edmonton snowmobile show is this weekend and I am sure after the tragic loss of lives last season they will book up quickly.

Cheers,
Dave

Come on guys, after last season how could you not get certified?
Especially with the ability to save some money.Get your wifes to get you an early Christmas present. Many thanks to the people who have signed up.

I hope to see some replies in here.....or at least hear that smokindave is getting PM'd.

This is a great deal, and when you have this kind of opportunity to get a course like this, one shouldn't pass it up. This IS knowledge you NEED. This can make a difference in your life, and the lives of others. Don't become one of the statistics, step up and take charge. Do this for yourself, your SO, your family, your riding partners (and their families & friends).

Getting the knowledge is an extremely important part of the safety factor. Having a hands on course is a great way to do it. :)

Well it looks like we are going to make the minimum of eight people and they will teach up to twenty so anyone that is interested please let me know and I'll start work on getting us a good deal on rooms.
Ita a win, win situation.
-Cheap AST1 coarse (could save yours or a friends life)
-Cheap room
-A sledding trip
-New friends and potential new riding buddies
-whole new out look on back country sledding
The reasons to do this coarse far out way the reasons not too.

Cheers,
Dave

smokindave still has room for the course, do yourself and your family a favor and sign up!! I just took this course last year and it was excellent. ended up having to dig a fellow sledder out of an avy about 3 weeks later and the knowledge I gained in the course saved my life that day, as we looked at that hill 15 min earlier and passed it up! without the knowlege it would have been someone in my group, or me! knowing what to do in the rescue/recovery was very helpful and somewhat calming. searching for the guy with no beacon in a 3-4 acre area seemed impossible but we found him! that search was very hard to deal with (mentally and physically) but I bet it wasn't as hard as standing on the sidelines watching because of lack of training or gear! S&R even kicked his buddies out of the search (when they got there) due to lack of gear and knowledge! I couldn't imagine watching one of my buddies suffocating to death under the snow and not being able to help find and rescue him. I for one will be continuing to receive more training until there is no more I can get.

so like I said, do yourself, your family, and friends a favour. get trained!!

Hi Darren, I imagine even as time goes on it is still a hard thing for you to live with. When you started making posts last season about having to dig Matt out, that was when I decided that taking the coarse was in my future.I hope that if I get in the same situation that I am able to find him or her within time to save their life.I feel for you bud and am glad that you still can get out there and ride.I think I would have a rough time after that, you are a bigger man than I am.

Still hoping to ride with you this season.
Cheers,
Dave

Hey Dave, you have me in on that Avy Course right??? As per the PM

If not then put me down, and let me know who I have to give some money to.

Ast1!

I did this course last year and i had a blast! I did it as a snowboarder and had a great time. Information is priceless. I encourage everyone to do it.

I guarantee your gunna come home everytime after taking that course!

To all who read this.......are you AST1 certified? If not please take this or another accredited course.....but please do not hit the backcountry again until you and your riding crew have the knowledge and tools for a safe return.
Safe sleddin'

Alright to all that I have spoken to about the coarse for Dec.12-13 you need to get on Hangfires website and register.I would have and will get a hold of all of you,but its been a terrible week with break downs galore.Trucking bussiness can really suck when things go bad.

Back on topic you need to register at http://www.hangfiretraining.comor phone 250-344-0399.
Its going to be a good time with sled videos Saturday after the coarse at the class room or maybe we could all go for a night time ride.I for one could go for the ride.
Any ways for the ones I haven't met yet,I look forward to meeting you, and Cale and Amy I look forward to the late night ride.Any questions PM me.
