Greenwater Parking

Went to Greenwater for Friday and saw something interesting. There were police and sheriff vehicles everywhere doing a "training exercise". That part doesn't bother me that much, the part that bothers me is the 3 Pierce County Sheriff trucks with large enclosed trailers parked in front of the "No Parking" signs in the turn around. Apparently they don't have to follow the same rules everybody else does. I have a two place so I didn't have any trouble turning around but I imagine some of the large trailers/RVs headed up for the poker run had a hard time. I took a picture I will post once I get them down loaded, I should sent it to Pierce County and ask them why they are so special.

A Sno-Jammer here - yes the SAR and Sheriff's were up at Greenwater starting early Friday morning for training, some went home Friday, the ones you saw on Saturday spent the night in the snow, learning how to save us. They picked this weekend specifically to be around in case any of the 150 riders up there needed help and I have to say having that many badges around really helped keep everybody on their best behavior.

Personally I'm glad they were there - we were there Thursday night, and there was more than one rig that came in without a sled, little Subaru's, small pick-ups and I guess when you have all those badged rig's sitting around it will make a criminal think twice about prowling cars.

As for the Sheriff's parking in the turn around it was done that way on purpose, after discussing with the club - to keep others from thinking about parking there, and it worked. There were no problems with the parking, even at the end of the day because we had everybody get turned around and facing out towards the 410 there was only 4 rigs that had to come up at the end of the day to turn around - pretty amazing with over 2 miles of people parked on the side of the road.

Special thanks to Deputy Dan and Officer Ian for hanging out all day in case something happened - they had a pretty laid back day basking in all that sunshine!

Thanks for the reply. I too appreciate them being there and training on snowmobiles and the snow just incase somebody is in trouble out there and needs help. I don't want to take away from them for that and that wasn't the intention. Also, any deterrennt to crime is a good thing.

I am not a member of the Sno-Jammers, although I plan on joining since I am new to the area and just meeting people/learning riding areas. I guess I just fundamentally disagree with them parking there on purpose. In my mind there should be no parking there for everyone, have a tow truck there and if anyone parks there, tow them. The old saying "lead by example". If I was a Pierce Sheriff, I would not park there just because of the image it creates. If it is an emergency, of course park there and take care of it. If not an emergency, just park in the first few spots and write tickets/tow those that cannot follow the rules.

We already have enough trouble with image/laws/legislation again snowmobiling, we don't need people (in this case the Sheriff) breaking the laws in the name of snowmobiling in plain site for everyone to see. Just think what the enviro-nuts thinks when they see that...Snowmobilers are bad and break the law.

I love the sport and appreciate anything that endorses/promotes the sport. Thanks to the Sno-Jammers for a great event!

Respectively,
Brox

What kind of move is that. Were gonna park there so no one eles will. That's a hater move for sure.Ya really think people would park there seeing all them popo's there.Police think cause there who they are they can do what ever the fuk they want.Thats wrong I dont even want ta get started -Reeffzilla-

no parking should mean just that (they parked there so no one else would?? WTF) what about the ones that need the turn around to turn around? SARS is a good thing but isnt one of their things "doing it by the rules"

The turn around was more than big enought to turn around in. We have full size dodge and a 4 place enclosed trailer and was no problem to turn it around.

Kinda like all the cops I see driving around talking on their cell phones.....

cops

Thats the only reason I would want to be cop to do what ever I wanted when I wanted and turn around and tell you you cant do the same! Its gotta be cool

I talked to a state patrolman and he told me that all police ie sheriff ,county, state offocers are excempt from the hand's free law ! Which I think is Bullshish !!!!!!!

No Sh*t....

Cop basher's are right up there with crack heads in my book.
I don't want to know either one.
(And yes, I'll stand by that statement)

When I was young and stupid (er) I didn't have too many good things to say about the police either. mainly because most of the things I entertained myself with were illegal.
But then I needed help from a cop in a life threatening emergency and that officer, who I'd never met before, risked his life to save mine.
I woke up and grew up a little that day.

I'm sure there are some cops who shouldn't be cops but the vast majority are good, honest people.

Reeffzilla :
Thats fine if there was plenty of room ta turn around the haters shouldnt be able ta park in a no parkin zone just so others wouldnt -Reeffzilla-

Look who the real hater is.

The only BS here is that they passed the law in the first place. Let's figure out what we're really pizzed at.

Reefziller or whatever... got agenda..? geesh, lighten up.

Right or wrong, this is for communication. Don't really want them pulling over to talk to dispatch and write down info while on a detail/call. Call your local agency and see about a ride along one night. You might enjoy it. Not all cops are Adam Henry (that's cop talk for A$$ H*&%):D
