Greenwater Conditions -Sunday- 5-4-08

Backed up past the usual start (burm/gate) to unload, 100yds maybe from the parking lot. A few short bare patches, but not much! Take the 1st left route to the cabin area....Plenty of snow up there and not alot of people !!! 4 rigs...

:mad: Very Sunburned

What type of riding is Greenwater? Never been and would like to try it out sometime.

Bluebird

Area for family I think mostly. O.K. for boondocking and swapping stories at the cabin in the meadow. A full 18 pack is required on that ride.

Big

ruffryder- It is a fun place to ride. It is like a lot of the riding around here, if you are a bit adventurous you can keep finding new places to ride… ;) Shhhhhh, don't tell though… :) But there is a great family play area on the top, with a cabin to get warm and hang out too. It's a fun spot!

We may be rding there this weekend...

Cool, keep me informed, would like to try it this weekend if possible. Though all I do is sit at the bottom of hills and watch other people ride. That and pretend to jump my nytro. That is if you don't mind if I tag along.

You can make Greenwater about what you want. I suppose it doesn’t have some of the same terrain and the precious following that GC has, but you can find about anything you want if you try.

No, on second thought, it is terrible and GC is the only place that even has snow.

ruffryder- Yep chains required. Cuz it is a 12% grade with switch backs and it like to eat truck pulling trailer, but right now.... BD (bare and dry...):beer;

We may be heading up there tomorrow as the sun will be probably at it's best, but not sure jut yet...

Most of the time I just chain up regardless .... Or I park at the bottom and road ride. A few years ago I went for a ride on it with a friends Featherlite covered...Though for sure I was going to pile it up..... :eek:

Speed is the whole key on the 70 road, take your time and things and things are fine. I put my chains on for the first time this year. Didnt need them!!! Idiot in a 2 wheel drive, stuck on a hill in front of me. I've been ridin GW since '92. Love that place, just bring yourself a chunk of firewood for the cabin. Got a splitting maul up there to cut rounds. You can find all types of ridin up there if you look. I think I might go up Monday and take friend from Minnesota that rides there but has never been here. Too bad WJ's aint got snow still. Back to the drive in, just take your time on the drive, especially on the way out. I have seen lots of wrecks-trucks over the edge, with trailers attached. TAKE YOUR TIME. Take chains but you wont need them. Especially this time of year. If anyone else wants to ride with us, let me know, we'll hook up.

Went to GW last night. Want the truth or fiction?

Parked just above the first bridge by the sno-park. Could have gone another 200 feet, but had my double covered trailer. Several hunks of gravel from there to the split just past were the Nachees trail goes left. We took the left instead of doing the south slope dugway. The road was miserabley bumpy until you came out on top:mad:. Once up top, we had a GREAT time. Took a noobie and went anywhere we wanted. Now need a new windshield. He did a nice barrel roll!!! :DMeadows was as flat as it ever could be. He had a couple of "70" mph passes on the old Indy. :face-icon-small-win

We need to get a few snowbanks knocked down so we can get rigs up the road. Still a ton of snow and it was cold enough yesterday to never melt the frost off of the pines on near the meadow!!

I was up today. Parked about 1/2 mile from the snopark. The road was not too bare, only about a half mile of gravel riding. The snow was awesome up top. Road bumpy, of course. Still about 8 ft at the cabin.
