Grandview CLOSED.... 4-27-2011

Don't bother trying to get up the road to ride grandview... the Road Closed sign at the "B" is a bit of an understatement...A section of road about 200 feet long and 80 feet wide is sliding away. its right before the last switchback going west ( the one with the little meadow and a great view of the lake). when i saw the gap i thought i was in Moab...this morning at 7:30 it was about 6 feet wide and the opposite wall was a good 4-5 feet vertical. the sluff is a semi-circle so there was no way around it on a sled. I doubt that Davis county or the DOT is in a big hurry to fix it... makes it easier to patrol for troublemakers if they can't get to the top. Looks like sledding up there is done for now.:(

Too bad you weren't up there earlier... we got in a great ride ! plenty of pristine fresh fluff on top. It was dry and light up to about 10 AM then it turned sticky pretty fast. Hope they fix it soon...

happens all the time...

This is about the 3rd time in 4 or 5 "springs" now that the same area has sluffed away, they can't seem to keep it together there no matter what they do. you really can't get around it at all??? in the past it's still been passable, just washed out to the south really bad.

I bet they do fix it fast this time - they have pipeline to work on this spring up there still don't they? I doubt they are done all across there, but maybe I'm wrong.

Well yes there is a way but it now ( since tuesday's snow has melted ) involves a long drag up and across the grass and rock and I'm not a huge fan of speeding up erosion or destroying vegitation. I suppose you could back your trailers up to the crack and use the ramp to bridge the gap. that way you are unloaded above the sluff and have only 1/2 mile of gravel until the snow...good luck.. its worth it...

access from...

farmington. Easy ride across the top. farmington is clear to the parking lot. tons of snow.

Farmington can't handle the traffic.

It's still possible to go up bountiful, it will just take a little determination.

Be aware riding along the top's. The cornices are the biggest I've ever seen, and they're starting to break away, up to 50' wide.
