Just wondering where the Grande Prairie people are riding? how much snow? how long of a travel? Also would be interesting to see how many Snowesters are in this area.

Kakwa area, which is 2 hours south. Other than that, head towards BC and sled the Pine Pass.

we always go to chetwynd, there is alot of riding around the powderking area, its anywhere from 2.5-3 hours depending on where you want to ride, we go to silversands alot, but there is also hasler, beaver creek (my favorite), powderking and old friend.

We start off over in Beaver Creek, Hasler. Then once there is enough snow we ride around Tumber Ridge, Babcock Mountain. Then later in season Red Deer Falls, the snow wasnt the best last year, but we still found lots of pow. I think Red Deer falls is the closest about 160km, not much of a ride to mountain. Beats the trail to Kakwa any day.

Oh yeah, Beaver creek is my favorite place to ride as well. 3 hours drive, 900m of elevation change in 4 km from highway to top of tree line and tons of snow even in december

I'm five hours north to GP, but when we come up we'll do kakwa, and beaver creek, beaver creek is a lot nicer in my opinion, you unload, ride over the tracks, up the powerline about 5 min, hang a right, trail through the woods for half an hour and your in. Nothing like Kakwa where you do 40k of trail just to get to some hills.

one of my friends climbed a chute from the highway at beaver creek and got into the 8th bowl, then comming back down his sled started on fire from his brakes, What a climb!

you head towards prince george on the pine pass, and i believe its around 1.5 hours south of chetwynd, there is a small pull out on the side of the highway on a sharp corner, sorry i dont know the exact place i was hung over and sleeping for most of the way there.

The funny thing is, it is just like BB4 says. He may have been lucky he was hung over. There is a couple of other places to pull off, they are all small, and make sure you park so no one blocks you in. I usualy start looking after you cross the transmission line, It is sketchy as f*** when its snowing hard.
So I guess not many other people ride beaver creek, I guess the Chetwnd crowd will be happy or maybe a taboo thing.

when i was there we had to back our 25 foot trailer in behind the international mxt, that was sketchy. and yeah the pull outs are very very small.

i live in chetwynd now and used to live in mackenzie each town is just on one side of the rockies and the other well its on the other. and ya riding in the pine pass is my fave. pick a spot from what ive been told all my life. i have ridden powder king, silver sands, and the calzon. tons of snow all winter long(half the year) just find out where is snowed the night before for no tracks and fresh pow :) to ride silver sands park at mount lemoray lode ride accross the highway and giver. as for PK pass the ski hill and go until you can see a railway overpass DONT go under it just befor that theres a parkinglot up and to the left. from there you can go a couple different ways. gas line. or back into the mountains endless places pay attension to witch way you came from lol

Beaver Creek

Parking can be a pain....just get there a little earlier:) There was another problem a while back with theives breaking into vehicles along the highway:mad: Never heard whether they were caught or not.

I used to live in GP. I used to go hunting in around 2 Lakes a lot and they were doing a ton of logging in behind the lakes. Has anyone been in there to see what is available for riding? Maybe it is off limits to ORVs.

Hey RMK Junky the thieves were dealt with. Better than caught. Heard that a group of sledders came down early caught them followed them beat them and no thieving last year so kudos to the good guys I say;.

There's no good sledding anywhere around Chetwynd!!!! Tumbler Ridge, that's where all the good riding is!! At least that's what we like to tell all you Albertians. LOL!!!!!
