Went up on Saturday the 18th, and I think I will put my sled away.
Only spotty snow around the Visitor Center. Unloaded up on top, where the snow reached the asphalt edge. Could not cross Kannah Creek (well, may be if you had enough buddies along to fish you out before you went too far downstream).
Out in the open, there are bands of rocks/no snow separated by marsh and ponds. The remains of the SP were full of 3--5 foot deep whoop-te-dos, with bare spots in inconvenient places.
The trees were tough--could go along through them, over old drifts backed by deep holes, and suddenly run out of snow, usually at the base of a drift you couldn't back up. Can you say, "hand spin it around"?
But, you know what, I got to ride!
