GPS Cache Hunting ideas for hard to find areas?

I have been thinking about this for a couple of years but never did implement it. We have been riding the same mountains for years and its always an adventure to try and get into areas where you still find new powder. I am sure you guys all do the same. Anyway a thought of taking a small prize, hat/shirt or whatver and hanging it in a ole pack in the trees would present a fun challenge. I dont mean off the trails or in easy to find areas but maybe make the prize relevant to the difficulty in finding? Also once found there would be a register in there for the following peeps to sign in and or a password rather than a prize where they could get acknowledment here on the forum for finding it. Just bouncing some ideas off you guys because I bet somebody may already be doing this in there riding areas. What do you guys think? would it work? and would people want to participate? as for prizes I was thinking of hitting up some of the advertisers, I also was thinking of only doing 1-10 locations total per season. logistically thinking I wont be able to personally get out to check registry all the time so thats why I was thinking of a password type recognition to verify?? Also this obviously would only work where I ride, so it would take effort on a coop to implement it in other areas if interest was there.

Goal would be to make riding more of an adventure for some people that are truely stuck in a rut. And make people more aware of riding potential and how to use there GPS. Downside, would there be a risk of liability to me?

You can try out http://www.geocaching.com/
I think it would be sweet to get some caches out in some areas, and like you said, it would help people find good places in an unfamiliar riding area. Not sure how it could be integrated into the forum though.
They have good methods for keeping track of logged visits, etc as well.
