Got up to Manastash Ridge and Quartz Mt.

Broke trail up to Quartz Mountain. Not great visibility, but some good pow. Was snowing heavily most of the day. Up near the top of the road to Quartz Mtn. you can see there were some large drifts near Hereford Meadows. Since I was up there alone, I decided not to get off the road too far.

Down near the snowpark, there was a lot of flooding, etc. Many large chunks of ice, about 8 to 10 inches thick, see the photos. There is no snow at the snowpark, and had to drive up to the Y and park. Lots and lots of ice on the road from the snowpark all the way to Buck Meadows.

Had a little mishap when I was breaking trail through the 7 to 8 foot drifts. I thought one of them would be softer and I expected to break through it. But when I hit it, the sled just climbed up the side of the wall and bucked me off then it flipped over. Whoops.

On the road to Frost Meadows, there is a large section of road that was under water (about 3 or 6 inches). The problem is that it is now solid ice, and barely covered with a bit of powder and most of the ice was hidden. Just cruzin along and all the sudden, the sled is sideways. Eerie feeling.

That is a place I want to check out. My mainstay is Ephrata which ain't far from there. Tampico is another one I want to tour. I also like to backcountry snowboard. So if you ever need a partner look me up.

Sometimes alone. Today was one of those days. So I stick mostly on the trail. I didn't even go down to Hereford Meadows, with all that pow. I just saw a few creeks cutting through and didn't want to take a chance by myself.

How much new snow was up there? How far did you have to go up before you started running into fresh snow. Thinking about heading up tomorrow, just trying to decide if it will be Reecer or Manastash...

Around Buck Meadows, it started getting a fresh coat. From Frost Meadows on past that, it was pretty good. Quartz had about 8 to 12 inches of fresh, on top of a 5 inch crust, then below that was about 1 to 2 feet of crushed pow.

If your ever looking for someone to ride with give me a shout. I'm just in ellensburg so i can make it over lickity split.
