Got myself a MotoTrax!

Well, after drooling over videos and reading all I could about snow biking, kit features and options, I decided to give the MotoTrax Scout-XC a try. The kit arrived last week and was quickly installed, since I had watched all the install videos on YouTube over and over before the kit was ever ordered. The fit kit parts for my KTM 525 were machined well and more importantly allowed the ski and track from to be installed flawlessly. Once the kit was installed and the chain adjusted (which is a really simple process), I was ready to test this awesome piece of machinery out!

My friend and I loaded her into the back of my truck and headed for the closest snowmobile staging area. Once we arrived, we started her up and took her for a spin.

We. Have. Not. Stopped. Riding. For. A. Week.

Mind you, that was a week ago! Haha.

I would have done this write up sooner, but I simply have not had time for anything but getting my fix of single ski and twist throttle in the powder madness that I am now addicted to!

Wow! What a rush!

I hope my wife doesn't miss me too bad this winter...:face-icon-small-ton

Awesome ! You sound pleased with it.
Post some pics.
Personally I like the choices of different brands, it keeps all the manufacturers on their toes, and competitive MRSP's :face-icon-small-hap

Oh I am definitely lovin' it! Yes, I couldn't agree more, I feel like I got a great value for the money with my MotoTrax kit, and with her vertical pivot capability, she really rails through the corners and feels a lot like my dirt bike! I will post some pics when I get home from my ride tonight, we got 12" of fresh pow yesterday and I am headed out to chew some up! :face-icon-small-hap

Have a great day everyone!

Glad you are enjoying it. Any issues with having an exposed chain case? I hate removing my cover every ride to check tension and grease.

So far neither myself, nor my friend have had any issues with the chains being open. It sure does make it nice to just make a quick visual check of all of the components at each stop.

The other thing that I really like about it is that there is a ton of room between the chain case and the foot peg. I wear a size 14 boot and I have yet to have my heel hang up on the frame or the case.

H2O,

Any more good review info? This is the kit that I am WANTING for next season and am looking for all of the feedback I can get. Still haven't personally met anyone who has one, but the design looks great. Plus, the fellas in Moscow are really good at answering questions and returning phone calls.

Please post any new info and pics when you come inside to thaw out!

Enjoy.

After wanting to try one out since they came out, I finally got the chance to ride a Moto Trax this weekend. Simply put, I am impressed! I have been on a Timbersled for the last couple years, and while that has been a good experience compared to the previous kits I had experience on (2moto, Explorer), I still felt like their had to be something better out there with more nimbleness and better handling capabilities. After jumping on the Moto Trax for the first time I could tell almost immediately the benefits of the Moto Trax over my Timbersled. Within 5 minutes I was more confident in the overall handling and feel of the kit than I was on the exact same terrain with my Timbersled just moments before. Like they claim, the design truly does give it more of a "dirt bike like" feel. One drawback I did notice with the kit, was that the ski is maybe not quite up to par just yet, but it is honestly much better than I had expected it to be and is certainly not a deal breaker by any means! While I can't speak for the kits deep powder performance, I don't have any reason to believe it wouldn't be up to par with everything else out there. To sum up my experience after about 30 mins of total ride time on the Moto Trax, if I had the option, I would trade my '15 ST Timbersled for a Moto Trax without hesitation. Any takers? If not I will be definitely looking to sell my current kit so I can afford a Moto Trax for next season!

IMO the design of the mototrax suspension is by far the best on the market. I want to buy one to put in a sled I bet it would work great there as well

Good chance if you were riding a 16' with TSS you may have not felt such a difference.

Nothing against Mototrax, they look nice.

Maybe so, but since the Moto Trax has a fixed strut it seems like it would be more beneficial to compare it to a Timbersled with a fixed strut. Maybe I'm wrong, i don't know. I have definitely thought about trying the TSS though as I'm sure it would be an improvement.

I am very curious how this kit measures up to a 2016 st timbersled with tss. I have a 2016 LT with tss and am probably selling it to go smaller... debating on giving this kit a try.

Yooper01, where are you based? We'd happily help set up a demo for you with one of our dealers. We are very confident with it's performance, but getting people on them is the only real way to convince people that our kits not only hold their own, but out perform the competition in most conditions. The benefits of the pivoting skid and rising rate suspension are something that really needs to be felt.

Also we will be releasing our new model next month in anticipation for our snow check starting on March 21st. I can't give too much away, but I can say that with the smaller track length weight plays more of a roll in deep snow flotation and there will be an advantage to getting a MotoTrax kit in that regard and many others.

I'd be interested in a test ride too. Bozeman, Mt
Getting a new kit for next year and would love to give your kit a shot!

jskattum606, Our dealer in Bozeman is Summit Motor Sports. They have a demo unit on hand that they should be able to take out for you. If you'd like to have a go on one you can call them on Monday. There number is (406) 586-7147. If you would prefer, we can call them and make sure they can arrange something. They also have made mention of having both CMX kits and Yeti kits on their facebook so you may even be able to do a side by side of all of them. As I said before, we are very confident in our performance given the feedback we've gotten thus far from those who have ridden them so we would love to have someone ride them all at the same time and write a detailed review like the Yeti vs. Timbersled review that Bainan posted.

I am in Marquette, MI, No dealers that I know of in the area. March 21st just happens to be my birthday........hmmm
