They arrived today--great stuff:beer; I also ordered the Quick Strap kit but no instructions how to install.
1) Do you cut the straps on the Quick Strap and try to weave the 509 strap into the QS anchor? Seems really bulky waiting for a screw-up to happen. Can you burn the newly cut edges?
2) How do you remove the 509 plastic hinged clips without breaking off the swivel pins? How do you install the the kit hinges without breaking the hinge?
3) Can I order a replacement strap to use the 509 for skiing?

Hi Bob,

If you ordered our QS compatible straps, you don't need to cut anything. You just need to remove the straps that came with your quickstrap kit and then weave the open end of our quickstraps into your existing QS hardware.

To remove the straps that came installed on the goggles, it's easiest to remove the lens so you can compress the frame together, while at the same time open the hinge fully and as you squeeze the frame together the pins will release. You can do it with the lens installed, but it's tougher as you can to flex the hinge to release the pins. So it's eaiser to compress the frame with no lens than it is to flex the hinges.

Yes, you can order replacement straps for $15. We don't have them online yet, but PM me and I'll get you taken care of.

I'm a little miffed, I also ordered the quick straps and was wondering why I didn't get everything that I need to fuggin use them. When I ordered my smith goggles with QS they had everything including the pieces that mount to the helmet. What gives? A picture online would have been nice, then I wouldn't have wasted my money.

Sorry for the confusion. We are not a quickstrap dealer and no where do we state that we sell quickstrap kits. Our "Quick Strap compatible straps" were created based off the demand that our customers wanted an option to use their existing QS kits with our goggles. Since our goggles have straps fixed into the hinge system, you can't remove them and install a traditional kit. Hence the QS compatible straps. Install these along with your existing QS kit and you're set. But they're not a complete QS kit.

Thanks for the speedy reply--I was here multi-tasking with the 509 when you gave me the instructions I needed--timely and thank you:beer;:beer;

Like I said, a picture online would be nice, I'm sure that I'm not the only one who's not a goggle expert. Had I known, I would not have placed an order at all.

holy shiz, go easy there skibreeze. If you have a set of quickstraps look and see how they loop through and follow it. my 6 year old was helping me with mine.

to make things easier for you tom, i found that I had to cut off some of the quick strap any ways and they were way easier to loop through the quick strap buckles. I even busted out my wifes sewing machine and sewed new loops on them. It aint' rocket science boys.

I know that it's not hard to do, but now I have to go out and buy the rest of what I need, at additional expense and hassle. I didn't have to do that with my other goggles. All I'm saying is that it could be more clear on the website, so that others aren't mistaken.

I'm not a rocket scientist, but I can do my own mods.cut the strap on the gogs, buy qs kit from local sled shop, cut the strap out, weave the new strap in.I haven't had any probs with m yet,I love my 509s.

Skibreeze, again sorry for the confusion. I will add a pic of the straps so it's more clear in the future.

Another reason we don't deal with the Quickstrap brand, is we are currently developing our own version which is much improved and far easier to use than anything on the market. Testing this season and available summer/fall next season. Velcro is OBSOLETE! :D

Bought these goggles at the Salt Lake Snowshow this year. Hands down the BEST goggles I have ever owned. They have not fogged on me once, including times when both inside and outside were full of snow, even in -20 temps., and blizzard conditions. I cut the straps and put my own quick straps on the goggles. Simple and easy! Took me maybe 5-10 min.

i love the look of my snow camos ... they are nice looking goggles .. havnet fogged up on me ... however i wish the footprint on them was bigger because i have a problem with them sealing up :(

I love my 509's, they are great boondocking goggles...but I prefer my Smiths for the trail ride home due to their larger size, can't beat the 509's lenses for playin though.
