Got hit by an Idiot

I got tangled up with some Idiot riding a yellow XP last weekend. I was cruzin down a trail with my son heading to double hill area in the Uintas. I normally do 50 or 60 mph down this particular trail. This day I had my 6 yr. old boy with me. Only doing about 35 mph (was cold). three guys were boondockin just off the trail. One of them shot across in front of us. I locked it up to a controlled skid, damn near sliding of the steep edge to miss him. We ended up stopping with my ski going thru his ski loop. I still can't believe nobody got hurt. Especially my son. If my boy wasn't there I would have made sure the guy went home injured. If the guy that hit me reads this, I hope you learned a little something from it. Oh I forgot. Your a dumb @ss too!!!
I hope you were a one time renter.

The more I ride (been riding since I was 9 or 10) the more I have a noticable lack of patience for guys with no clue about riding ethics / manners. I have buddies I ride with every now and again that either hit someone in our group or near miss someone in the group every time we ride with them. They ride too close, they come past you (no margin for error) so close at high speed. I went to turn up a hill and this guy comes flying by me and darn near tags me! He's hit me before coming off a hill and not looking as he came out the trees!

Guys - be considerate - keep some safe distance - ALWAYS LOOK AROUND YOU!!!! - and you'll come home smiling versus pissed!

... and another thing - sometimes getting out of the throttle is best - pinning it to get past or ahead or whatever around another rider is not always best - ask my '98 700 how it liked being T-boned by some guy that thought he could get across (sidehill) in front of me as I was coming down a STEEEP mother hill!

That's my point. And thanks. I realize it may be the last chute I climb or the last cornice I drop. But that is the risk I take myself. Just don't take me or a family member out on a trail because you didn't take the time to look before you crossed the road. Ride Safe.:)

no offense but your just as much as an idiot as the guy who came off the trail if you managed to see him boondocking maybe you should have taken that as a hint that the guy was getting back on the trail. sh!t happens and no one wants to get in a sled crash but if every one wined and b!tched about getting cut off there would be a new section on snowest.

Just like entering a highway, you HAVE TO YIELD TO THE RIGHT OF WAY!!! I just had this happen to myself last week. I was the one coming up to the trail through some thick trees. I looked to the left, it was clear, looked to the right and it was clear. As I started to pull forward, and around a bush that was blocking my clear line of site to the left, 2 sleds came hauling past. I was able to stop 5 feet short of the trail and was never closer then about 12 or 15 feet from either sled. It did scare me and made me remember to pull my head out of the dark side. I'm sure we all have times that we loose focus of what we are doing.

For your info. I did slow down and get over to the edge (which was his side of the road). If I hadn't slowed down it would have been a much different outcome. Nice to see you condone this type of reckless riding.

Don't be a dipchit, you are always suppose to yeild the right of way when coming back onto an trail, sledhead did nothing wrong....

I had the same thing happen to me twice in about 5 minutes down in West Yellowstone last weekend. I posted hoping the dumbazzes would read it, I know they were staying at the Goldenwest so I posted on that thread but no reply.....
My wife was hit by one of these douches three years ago and broke both her tib and fib, required reconstructive surgery and some titanium to fix it. Makes my blood boil every time I see it or it happens to me or someone I'm riding with.

Dude, you need to STFU, you continually have the stupidest comments. As said by others, if you are on the trail you have the right of way. If you want to cross the trail, you have to yield to others on the trail. No different that on the road in a car.

And the winner is!!!

That about brought tears to my eyes. Don't usually LOL. But that was classic.
Good on ya.

I had this happen to me

A couple of weeks ago we were in the big horns and we were riding the trails with a friend of ours that was on his quad with paddle tires on. This guy and his group came out of no where from the side jumped up on the trail tring to stop us by getting in front of us, well almost hit two of us and I came to a stop just in time to miss him. He yelled at me for a few minutes about having a 4 wheeler back there and said he was going to turn us in finally I just left, could not handle him yelling at me. Got back to the truck and looked at the map yes we took a wrong turn and we were where the 4 wheeler was not allowed, but still someone could have got really hurt by this a$$ hole!!

:confused:Nothing at all to do with Ski Doo. Just wanted to identify the idiot by his ride and the time and location just incase he reads the Ski Doo forum. I don't care if he was riding a horse. You still need to look before crossing a groomed trail.

I'm just wondering what this has to do with Ski-Doo. Does the brand have anything to do with how smart the rider is?

Why does everyone think they are the friggin forum police in here? If you only want to read about skidoos dont open the thread called "Got hit by an Idiot". Did you really think this was going to be a thread on the latest sled comming out of the BRP stable. Carefull I will hand out more assclown awards.
